Can't Take Dermorolling Anymore...suggestion For Numbing?

Hey people,

So about 5 weeks ago I jumped up to a 1.5 Diameter roller. The first 4 times I did it raw, with no aid, and I can tell you, for a guy who can take a lot of pain, it has HURT...a lot, but I manned up and went through it, blood and all, and 7 hours of pain after.

I set aside a session to do today, but thought to myself, I can't do this sh*t anymore. So I went to buy some cream from CVS, 20% Benzocaine...it did NOTHING after applying it.

I don't know what to do, either soak my head in ice pre-session, or what?

For the first time in my life I'm actually seeing RESULTS by incorporating wounding in my regimen. I can't go back now, but this is too painful.

Any tips would be cool. Thanks in advance.

Maybe draw less blood until you get used to it? That's my approach.
Pretty similar to working out :)

On my head it barely hurts except of the front. I think I still have some fibrosis to break up. Also not so much blood for now, I look like a lion who has eaten afterwards.

I only know about ice for numbing. :/
Lidocaine maybe?

Nice to know you get results at least.

I assume you meant 1.5mm length needles? That is rather deep!
I can't comment on the effectiveness of incorporating dermarolling for improved of absorption of topical solutions, or whether there is a need for systemic absorption...but If the theory behind dermarolling for hair regrowth is to generate blood flow, do we really need such a length?
I have been using 0.5mm for a year now, and against the recommendations I have been using it every 2-4 days (depending on how the skin feels). With that length,no numbing is required and it never causes bleeding (unless it accidentally gets dragged across the wrong way). Whether it has been a success is unclear, as I also use finasteride/minoxidil/RU, but I like how it keeps the scalp clean and seemingly less oily.

I did 0.5 and it did nothing but for absorption, as I have read you need to go above 1.0 for true "wounding".

So nobody has suggestions? Any cream? Anything, I was seeing more regrowth than I think I ever have. I really don't want to scale this back
