Hello guys !!! Very happy to see so many people helping their balding brahs.. so here's my story . I really need your help. I am 19 years old . I was experiencing hair loss 1 year back so I decided to cut it short and it stopped my hairloss and hair was much thicker. Now again I experienced hairloss after a year so obviously I cut it short. Then too hairloss hasn't stopped . Like I used to get 30 hair in shower but now I get 10-12 hair in the drain. I know it's not much of hairloss. But I can see bit of my scalp in light . It's more like diffused thinning . My temples have receeded but my from childhood my temple hair were weak. So I am really confused that it is male pattern baldness or something different telogen effluvium maybe.. I went to there doctors they told me it's male pattern baldness without looking at scalp closely. Recently one trichologist gave me finasteride 1mg . So I am worried that I should take it or not ? Please help me brahs......

Post some pictures please so we can see your current situation. If your Doctor told you it's male pattern baldness, why not try finasteride?

Yes alright. I think all doctors suggest the same because it's the only thing that works. But I'm more worried about my sperm. In later years I'll not be able to produce a healthy baby due to low sperm count. I know it's lame but still it haunts me

Start finasteride + minx as soon as possible. Allot of people don't experience sides from fina. This should at least stop the Androgenetic Alopecia progress and perhaps reverse some damage!

Don't get on finasteride! Monitor it first and if it gets worst see a dermatologist .
Dermatologists don't monitor the scalp carefully. They just say it's male pattern baldness! I have moreover diffused hairloss on the top of my head . So can it be telogen effluvium? My hairline hasn't receeded

Yes I'm on finasteride too and I have no side effects. I do have the feeling my body needed to get used to the medicine, and I went to quite a shedding phase.

This is the top of my head

There's definitely thinning going on there, probably best to start treatment.

If you do start finasteride and down the line you're planning to have a child, I would definitely come off it for a while. There has been plenty of people who have had a perfectly healthy baby whilst on finasteride, but there's a risk it could end up being deformed or what have you since blocking DHT is tampering with hormones.

Do you recommend minoxidil? Coz I don't have much shedding now. Like 4-5 hair while shampooing

While shedding can often be a sign of hair loss, it isn't always a good indication. E.g. you can not shed any hair and still be losing ground with the hair miniaturizing, while you can also shed a ton of hair and not be losing ground (like a lot of women). There's a very good chance that minoxidil would help thicken everything up, but it depends on if you're willing to commit to it or not. Personally I don't use minoxidil because even though it would most definitely help out, I'm not willing to spend 10-15 minutes twice a day putting it on for the rest of my life. Where as I don't mind "popping the pill" once a day with finasteride.

Thank u bro.. I really apreciate that.. my thoughts are similar to urs . Even I can't take the risk of the shed due to minoxidil and I'm afraid that minoxidil stops working and all the hair are gone!! I'm currently on 15 days of finasteride.. would finasteride only regrow my temple hair? There are still small hair so I'm not completely bald from temples. I want to stay on finasteride only
