Man, slow diffuse thinning is ****ing hell. I've been living this nightmare for 7 years now and I still have few hairs on my head. My head is itching and flaking because of seborrhea so I can't forget my balding for a minute. I hate this ****.

Rant over.

I don't know how I would have coped with a receding hairline. Diffuse thinning was a blessing for me.

Well my forehead is ****ing huge so maybe it's better to thin than to recede, but otherwise I'd rather receed. It looks less freakish than this cancer-y type of thinning. This looks like your whole ****ing body is rotting.

So what you are saying is that having to shave is worse than having to buzz....

Umm... yeah? Are you surprised about that? I have actually never "shaved" my head, but I've buzzed it to the skin like just 5 minutes ago.

Fred, I remember that you also had seborrhea and dandruff, any luck on treatments?

Are you sure that seboreha has nothing to do with male pattern baldness ?

Nothing, no link has been found. I had seborrhea before I started treating it with high dose vitamin A and it hasn't affected my thinning at all.

Vitamin A actually worked for your seborrhea? Did nothing for me...

And I don't think seborrhea leads to baldness either. My mother has no trace of seborrhea yet she has the same thinning pattern as I. Sometimes a person has both, but most of the time only one of the conditions. I'm lucky to have both!

How can you follow mothers patern? Isnt hairloss inherited from male ancestors?

Maybe in an old wives tale it is. My mother's father (whom I never met) receeded, some of my mothers brothers have receeded (one is completely bald but I dunno how he lost his hair), but my mother has the thinning thing, like me and my brother. I think it's very common to inherit the gene from your maternal grandfather. I just wish I had dark hair like my dad and his dad... maybe then I wouldn't have the balding gene, at least not this strong.

That is what i mean. You have balding gene from your mothers father.Your mom passed it to you. But man cant inherit bald gene from mother only. That is why our condition is called MALE pattern baldness.

So does balding woman inherit gene from mother or father?
If a guy have all ancestors NW1, and mother diffuse thiner, does that mean he can go bald?

You don't just inherit it from your mother, I got it from my father most definitely who's mostly German. My mom's side is Native American and not one of those men are losing or have lost hair.

Inheriting baldness from your mothers side sounds like some BS that fathers with full heads of hair would tell their balding sons. Because when you have a full head of hair nothing is ever your fault. :$
