It's total BS. I get so annoyed by people telling me that when Im walking proof it's a myth. When I was a teen with lush, beautiful hair I used to say that myself to prove why I would never go bald.

Irony hit me hard when I found out the opposite at age 22.

Father started to go bald at 17 => I started to go bald at 17. Maternal grandfather started to lose his hair in his 50's => Why the **** didn't I get his hair genes :(.

The weird thing is that my father lost his hair in the traditional patern and my maternal grandfather had DPA. Well I got DPA at 17. I really don't get genetics :dunno:.

Dont think it matters HOW your dad or grandad went bald or WHEN it just matters if they had the balding gene or not...they probably passed it on to you...and if they did you then happened to go bald in the way you did and what ever time you did.

And gascoigne i think it can come from mother or father...a balding gene is a balding gene why should it matter.

Its basically genetics. You get the X chromosome from mom and Y from dad. Your dad's Y can only be from HIS dad. Your mom's X that you were created from can be from her mom or her dad. If its from her dad, its from her dad's mother indirectly. So if your Y chromosome dominates, it will tend to express the balding gene if it has it. If your X chromosome has the balding gene and dominates, you will express the gene. If your X and Y chromosomes both carry the balding gene, you are definitely doomed. In my case, I have two bald grandfathers. My father lost all his hair in his 20's basically. He got his dad's balding gene and it expressed greater than his mom's. But his brother's X gene dominated so his brother never went bald because his mom's side had full heads of hair. My mom's mom side of the family had full heads of hair so basically, I got the X from my mom's mother and this gene dominated over my dad's balding gene. So I escaped going bald like my dad and both grandfathers. So basically, I take mostly after my mom's moms side of the family( they were British). I also got a bonus from that side of the family for height too. They were very tall and I am pretty much one of the tallest males in most of my family tree. Its all about genetics.

Gascoigne, I would need to know your great grandparents Norwood levels on both sides plus the Norwood levels of your grandparents on both sides for me to give you a rough estimate of what your destination could be just based on genetics alone. I have seen your photos, you just have fine curly hair with low density all over. You obvious did not get the super thick super dense hispanic hair most Puerto Ricans and Mexicans have. What is your ethnic background? I live in an area of lots of Puerto Ricans and I have never seen so many perfect small forehead NW1 in my life. When I see a balding one, I feel awful for them as its very rare.

If they're from Argentina you can usually thank some German in the lineage for the balding gene. :p

Well my forehead is ****ing huge so maybe it's better to thin than to recede, but otherwise I'd rather receed. It looks less freakish than this cancer-y type of thinning. This looks like your whole ****ing body is rotting.

You dont have any choice but to buzz to 0. Im receding and buzzing cuz im nw4 front. No reason to grow it.

Have you tried trichogen? Man I can't tell you how good it worked for me. I followed the info on howtogrowhairback.com and seriously, just amazing how my hair has come back. Trichogen is supposed to work really well for the frontal hair loss, so I assume that's the part of this treatment that got my hair back there ... and it's cheap!!

Even when I was heavy diffuse thinning I had that same easy going mindset regarding hair loss as some of the notorious nw3 positivity coaches on here. Oh, it won't be the end of the world. There are worse things. Whatever. But then I crossed that threshold into true baldness. I was not prepared for the change. Once it becomes noticable to everyone then there is no going back. There is no more disguising it. You are exposed for everyone to see. You notice the change in how people treat you. You notice alot more sideways looks while out in public. It affects your confidence profoundly.... this **** changes people! Going bald definately exposes you to a different side of humanity.

LMFAO. am i the only one who thinks small latino foreheads look retarded and primitive?

high european foreheads look way more classy, distinguished, and dont give off that "im a juvenile retarded caveman" vibe

im not gonna lie, but most latinos i have met have been immature, short tempered ****s anyways

There's classy and distinguished, then there's elongated and bulbus, a lot of us northern european folk fall into the second category which is why we struggle so badly with the bald look.

Personally I would love to have that "juvenile retarded caveman" hairline with no hint of recession whatsoever, lol, when your hairline has completely disintegrated like mine most of the frame that having hair gives you, is lost.

I don't know any Puerto Ricans over here in the uk (there can't be many I don't think) lol, but I do live in a quite a diverse town and have quite a few friends of asian origin, who are like the uk nw1 hairline equivalent of the latinos (by asian I mean Ind/Pak/Bang not Jap/Chi/Kor as you say in the US) and boy is it frustrating walking around with these guys and their perfect nw1 amir khan hairlines, if they give me hairloss jokes, I just have to fire back with weight and excess-body hair jokes or try to spook them that their crown is suddenly going to get ravaged in 5years time, lol.

Interesting though Exodus, that you apparently seem to dig the european forehead look, I guess we can all be hyper critical sometimes when it comes to judging our own unique ethnic physical features.

from my observations balding seems to be uncommon in East Asians (Chinese, Japs), Black Africans and Latinos

while Whites, South Asians (Indians, Pakis) and Arabs seem far more prone to balding.

Interesting. Maybe there is some correlation then with hairloss and facial hair growth, as the non balding groups barely shave let alone grow what is a definition of a beard, whilst the balding/bald group, by and large have good facial coverage.

I don't know about that. Most black dudes I know are balding, as are most Asian guys I meet. The only ones immune are Native Americans and some South Americans, but they have to have very little European in them.

I'm an exception to the rule, my beard is sparse and grows mostly under my chin. I can't grow a moustache to save my life.

Does it appear white also? Am I correct in saying most Finns cant grow what constiuents a beard.....maybe lack of sun is the main cause.
