My post is rather long, but it's just a collection of a few incidents from the top of my head and my final thoughts regarding people that use Toppik.
I remember the first day I started using Toppik. Back then my hair was still quite decent, unlike now where I'm would be quite emberassed to be seen without Toppik.
I walked into the gym feeling like my hair is 16 again, gym mirrors were not my enemy anymore. I couldn't believe I couldn't see my dreadful scalp anymore through my thinner spots. I overheard one of the trainers behind saying "So he's not balding anymore?", he gave me a lot of suspicious looks later on for the next few weeks trying to catch a glimpse of my scalp when I did seated excercises.
One of my lady friends at the gym that we chat between sets sometimes kind of called me out saying "you also have more than you used, so your barber knows whichs areas to 'fill out'". I was a bit stunned by this so I told I just got a new haircut, I don't think she really bought it. The thing is though, is that since her husband is bald, I've talked with her a couple of times about how I'm balding so it wasn't out of the blue that she spotted my 'new' hair.
One of my best friends had no clue about it, I only revealed him a year later when my situation was quite bad already and he showed me a lot of sympathy actually. He now asks me questions regarding hair loss since he's been receding a bit as well.
At work I don't think anyone noticed. I timed my Toppik usage in a way that I got a new haircut and then I started using it.
I did have one emberassing moment where a good friend of mine was showing me how to shave my cheekline with a shavette, so he grabbed the top of my head to keep my face still. He then looked at his fingers and saw some of the black stuff smidged on them. He didn't touch my hair again during the shave. I have a feeling he kind of knew something was up but didn't want to emberras me.
I'm pretty sure I heard at least one person say about me in the gym "he puts something on his hair", but then again that could just be my paranoia.
The only postivie that Toppik has done for me was help me get attention from young girls that would have other wise probably automatically dismissed me for being 'bald'. I'm 31 years old, 6'2" with a decent physique. If I wear Toppik then sometimes even young high school girls check out. My point is that I find it hard to believe that a young girl would think to herself "that guy's cute" if I'm walking around half bald. However, I'm pretty sure that girls in their late 20's wouldn't mind it really since they know well well to expect guys their age to be bald/balding.
My advice to people starting Toppik is, if you a bit balding but you're managing to at least maintain with treatments, then go for it, by all means use Toppik.
If your hair is going fast downhill (like me) and you find yourself have month having to use more and more Toppik, then for the love God don't start with it. It will get very addictice and you will absolutely hate your hair without it.
