Do People Notice Your Concealer (toppik, And Others)?

Pretty much in the title. Do non male pattern baldness people notice what you did with your hair? I honestly didn't know about Toppik and other products until i researched into it, but what do other people think? Some people's responses when they saw the change was "I like your hair, what did you do differently?" "I like what you did with your hair" "did you dye your hair?" My response is that I got a haircut lol Even the GF hasn't said anything about it. Not sure if I'm using it really good or no one is telling me the truth? This situation is almost as worse as not using it at all.

Most people don't think that something like toppik exists, nor thought about anything like it. I imagine that they will think "something" is up if you go from being super diffuse with a bald spot to having a seemingly full head of hair.

But I've never seen the point of it. Wouldn't it be better to invest in Rogaine or Propecia, which actually will give you lasting returns and can be sustained?

I use a little bit of toppik every now and then. No one has ever said anything.

But I still have a decent head of hair. Those guys in the advertising videos who are practically bald and regain a whole head of hair with toppik, I bet people would call them out in real life lol.

I'm already on finasteride, but like a lot of people, I want instant results, so I'm combining the two.

I don't see why regrowing and concealing can't go coexist. Seems better, so you can hopefully avoid the bald stigma altogether.

My post is rather long, but it's just a collection of a few incidents from the top of my head and my final thoughts regarding people that use Toppik.

I remember the first day I started using Toppik. Back then my hair was still quite decent, unlike now where I'm would be quite emberassed to be seen without Toppik.
I walked into the gym feeling like my hair is 16 again, gym mirrors were not my enemy anymore. I couldn't believe I couldn't see my dreadful scalp anymore through my thinner spots. I overheard one of the trainers behind saying "So he's not balding anymore?", he gave me a lot of suspicious looks later on for the next few weeks trying to catch a glimpse of my scalp when I did seated excercises.

One of my lady friends at the gym that we chat between sets sometimes kind of called me out saying "you also have more than you used, so your barber knows whichs areas to 'fill out'". I was a bit stunned by this so I told I just got a new haircut, I don't think she really bought it. The thing is though, is that since her husband is bald, I've talked with her a couple of times about how I'm balding so it wasn't out of the blue that she spotted my 'new' hair.

One of my best friends had no clue about it, I only revealed him a year later when my situation was quite bad already and he showed me a lot of sympathy actually. He now asks me questions regarding hair loss since he's been receding a bit as well.

At work I don't think anyone noticed. I timed my Toppik usage in a way that I got a new haircut and then I started using it.

I did have one emberassing moment where a good friend of mine was showing me how to shave my cheekline with a shavette, so he grabbed the top of my head to keep my face still. He then looked at his fingers and saw some of the black stuff smidged on them. He didn't touch my hair again during the shave. I have a feeling he kind of knew something was up but didn't want to emberras me.

I'm pretty sure I heard at least one person say about me in the gym "he puts something on his hair", but then again that could just be my paranoia.

The only postivie that Toppik has done for me was help me get attention from young girls that would have other wise probably automatically dismissed me for being 'bald'. I'm 31 years old, 6'2" with a decent physique. If I wear Toppik then sometimes even young high school girls check out. My point is that I find it hard to believe that a young girl would think to herself "that guy's cute" if I'm walking around half bald. However, I'm pretty sure that girls in their late 20's wouldn't mind it really since they know well well to expect guys their age to be bald/balding.

My advice to people starting Toppik is, if you a bit balding but you're managing to at least maintain with treatments, then go for it, by all means use Toppik.
If your hair is going fast downhill (like me) and you find yourself have month having to use more and more Toppik, then for the love God don't start with it. It will get very addictice and you will absolutely hate your hair without it.

@Massive Thank you so much for your input. I've gone through a few of the same thing you have, like the gym mirror situation. I'm currently taking finasteride to stabilize what I have and Toppik with it, which really seals the deal for me. Are you not on finasteride?

I'm on the big 3 and things are still going down south. I've started finasteride a long time ago and it does jack sh*t to me. My nearest hope to stabilize is start RU 58841 soon and maybe a low dose of oral minoxidil like 5mg.

I originally started finasteride and hair fibers at the same time while my hair was still decent but thinning a bit, naively I thought I won't have to use a concealer soon enough but things only went down hill. Best of luck :)

No one ever said anything, except for my fingernails which are always dirty because of it.

I have heard about Toppik and Caboki as well. Both brands are popular for their hair loss concealer. Another brand included in this list is Febron.

I use black graphite powder, fine powder. I have to make sure I rub it in well... 4 years and no one has said anything, and BELIEVE ME, I work with sharks who will focus on a weakness you have and pounce...
Concealers are like having a virus, where you take drugs that negate the symptoms of having the virus. I'm Thinning on top, but the concealers are making it back to 70% to 90% so who the f cares...
