Okay and it wasn't my intention to pass it off as fact. The part I even highlight stated that finasteride could potentially affect the immune system.

It's not hardcore evidence that proves once and for all that finasteride will cause severe damage to the immune system. It just adds to the credibility of the theory that it can cause complications.

Kalbo, you seem to be under attack but in your regimen it says you're waiting for your fincar shipment. I just thought I'd point out the fact that you're not against the use of finasteride it would seem.

Went to a derm today. A very famous derm out here. She was completely against Propecia. She told me to find a good doctor and go for an hair transplant. She said finasteride is something that MAY do a lot now but it will surely create problems later in life. Then she gave a few scientific reasons which I couldnt understand much of.

Thanks, but so far no one accused me of being anti-finasteride so it wasn't really needed. Most of the aggression was against the creator of the thread who certainly comes across as an anti-finasteride activist.

Speaking of my fincar shipment, why the hell is it taking so long!?!... I wanna eff up my immune system already!!.... j/p :p

hair transplant doctors also tell their clients to take propecia anyways so that they can keep their existing hair (unless you are already high up in the Norwood scale). So if you wanna still have hair then there's no way to do it right now unless you're using a DHT-inhibitor.

And do you recall her say the words "immune system" when she gave the reasons for not taking propecia?

Nice catch...she did bring out that point.....She is a good friend of my family doctor and she said that if I was related to her she will never put me on propecia, she will go for multiple hair transplant's.

She did not even once mention "immune system"....All her attention was towards the way that finasteride works is not good for Prostate.

This doesn't surprise me at all. My mother is a doctor herself and referred me to a dermatologist, and he told me not to take finasteride.

The reason is simple - though dermatologists specialise in skin/hair, they are still our physicians. For them, us going bald is an acceptable outcome, whereas us having side effects from medication they have prescribed is not.

It's safer for them to say "there's nothing you can do, just go bald" than attempt to treat it.

Yes I would rather have my freakin' hair.

Many doctors don't want you to do anything that is less than perfectly healthy no matter how much you want to do it.

Many doctors refuse to do cosmetic plastic surgery for example.

Some docs and pharmacists even refuse to deal in v**** or birth control pills.

It seems to me the truth with Propecia is that it is like many if not most drugs. It works a little and may cause problems in a few people or more in some.

This is certianly true with drugs people take all the time.

I think people here get so freaked out about it because you guys are inherently paranoid. Maybe why you went bald in the first :freaked2:

place. :freaked2: :freaked2:

Relax.

Chances are we will all die; probably not at the hands of a pharmaceutical.

Joe.

Then, why don´t go to the bottom of hormonal adjustment?.

Abdominal fat increases the testosterone secrection. It is said that in a very high percentage.

Plastic containers dissolve some of their components in the liquid they contain, and they have an effect on estrogens.

Milk contains hormones, from very dubious sources. Meat also contains testosterone and other hormones, that is remanent of the injections that animal suffer to increase their meat percentage.

And on and on. Hormonal balance is not untouchable and one per nature. It is attached to variability because of diverse phenomena.

Why the hell is there a problem when you want to modify it somewhat to solve a problem that could be so consuming??

finasteride is relatively safe for long term. Prostate sufferers have it at five times the dose for hair loss. Not a single medical case of adverse/lethal effects.

Yes, you´ll say "Who knows in the long term?".

No one knows. This is the truth. But it´s an incertainty humans are living with since the cave era, and it´s a question you can make about everything.

The only possible answer is to know the present effects and evaluate a possible future course.

On the subject of dermatologists recommending or not recommending Propecia, my experience with my dermatologist was interesting. I was prescriped Propecia by my internal medicine doctor and then went to a dermatologist after I had stopped Propecia due to fear of sides. The dermatologist told me every medicine has sides and said look at the side effects of tylenol (funny because his physician assistant was in the room before he came and she said the same thing about tylenol). He went on to say, "you're going bald, you're going to have a ring of hair around your head, you can do something to stop it but you're not doing anything!". The derm said he's been on Propecia himself since it came out in 1997 and has prescribed it to thousands of patients without any problems. He said one patient said he had problems getting an erection but when he got off the drug he returned to normal.

Just thought I'd share this experience.
