Front Hairline Receding When Starting finasteride?

Hey guys, I took finasteride from sept to december with good maintenance but the sides were annoying on 1mg.

Anyway, I revisited finasteride this summer and started off with microdosing at .05-.1mgs and it didnt seem to help. That being said, I started using .25mgs last month with no sides so far aside from slightly watery semen. Here's the strange thing though. . Usually the shed is more or less all over my head when I start finasteride, but it's made my hairline recede this time around. The initial sides were higher libido, oily skin/scalp, and a little itching but that subsided over the course of a week.

Now it has receded to the point where the divot isnt even there (shown in the pic). Anyway, has anybody experienced recession on finasteride sheds? This is all very strange as finasteride worked for me when I used it last year.
Anyway, I'm wondering if the initial higher T and itch that first week was a bad sign. It's subsided since then, I still do have a light itch, but it's nothing that is unbearable.
Anyway, I'm wondering if any of you noticed recession in your hairline when you first took finasteride- I didn't notice any when I first took it last year, but for some reason it's occurring now, which is strange.

Anyway, here's a link to the hairline- as you can see, there are a lot of thinner hairs at the hairline now, which is concerning. If finasteride has worked for me in the past, it should work now, right?

finasteride can cause hairline recession even if it hadn't before. Happened to me. Second time when I took finasteride, I went from thick NW0 to NW2 in a matter of three months. When I stopped taking finasteride the shedding slowed down considerably. Taking finasteride was the biggest mistake of life as I didn't even need it when I started.

Happened to me, too, the combination minoxidil foam + finasteride destroyed my hairline completely. I'll be Norwood 5 in a year or two.

The horrible thing about our situation is that we can do pretty much nothing about it as the very med that was suppose to help us made is a lot worse. I just sit there watching my hair follicles die every day and can do nothing to stop it.

We can simply wait for the inevitable and enjoy our personal hell.

Never tried finasteride, but dutasteride gave a nasty hairline and left temple shed for several weeks when first starting. Scary to keep taking it when you see the shed, but it stopped about three weeks in a now lots of new small hairs have shown up where the shred happened. Almost stopped, but now I'm glad I didn't. Good luck MicroDoser.

How were the sides during the shed? Did you notice any changes in oil production? Libido? Semen? Itchiness?

Itchy- Yes, more oil in the beginning and thats all. Already had gyno so I cant say that dutasteride caused it- but that surgery costs about the same as hair transplants and that one I'll only encounter once.

Nothing really happened the first time. I took it only for three months and quit because I was in college and it was $60 a month. I didn't need it anyway so it was a waste of money. I started taking it again after 2 years and this time within a week my hair became oily, scalp pimples formed and hair started to shed massively. I took the medicine for 3-4 months and my overall density went down and hairline receded to a NW2. I found out later on that I experienced something called reflex hyperandrogenicty. An adverse reaction to finasteride in which the number of androgen receptors on your head goes up and makes your hair more vulnerable to DHT. You probably experienced the same reaction as your scalp became oily and itchy. That's a symptom of reflex hyperandrogenicity. Also, my shed was not the same shed that many finasteride users experience when they first start taking finasteride. It was actually due to my hair getting more vulnerable to hairloss due to increase in the number of androgen receptiors. If I were you, I will come off finasteride immediately. But do some more research and make your own decision. It's not a good idea to make these kind of decisions because someone said something online. Look at this page. Scroll to the bottom and read Dr. Proctors explanation of reflex hyperandrogenicity.

I think I'm going to wait another month before coming to conclusions- the last time I took finasteride, my oiliness decreased and my sex drive was lowered. Seeing as it hasn't been long, I'm going to give it another month to see if the increased T is just initial, as many users have experienced an increased sex drive during the first 4-6 weeks.

Without a doubt, dutasteride is working. I do believe many are correct when they talk of an initial bump in T. It for me seemed that subsided at the end of month one. That also happens to be about when the shedding stopped. Cant be certain if its my imagination or not but hair texture seems a little different (somewhat wavy now). Also seems like its growing faster but I dont think thats possible. If you give it another month whatever conclusion you arrive at should well founded
