That's like saying only smoking a half a pack of cigarettes is nothing to worry about. It's nothing compared to three packs a day.

I will do my best to research ghost Bond but at the end of the day for me to say it safe is just going to be my opinion. I don't have the statistical facts that are available to us like they are with the acrylic adhesives and the dangers of them.
Just looking for a educated opinion

I'll dig into it... but at the end of the day if you're intent on wearing hair like all of us are on this form we're going to do it one way or another. We already know ghost bond is much safer than acrylic. Whether it's 10% safer or 95% safer at the end of the day you're making the safer decision....

I appreciate that and that's why I'm not holding a grudge. I know emotion does not come through typed words... so me being matter of fact may come across as abrasive to some... but that's not how I intend it to be.

I think what we should do .. and I'll volunteer. Is call Pro Hair labs and ask him to do a video discussing all the ingredients and everything he knows about them including the quantity in the product. He can also give factual information and product knowledge regarding acrylics because they do sell it too . They really are a great bunch of guys over there and I don't think he would decline doing that. :)

Now I'm getting a little crazy but he could actually do a live one where we all view it at a specific time and can ask questions!

And there will never be a decade long study about one certain plastic or acrylic on humans, because there are so many in the environment anyway. All we ever will have is animal studies on these matters.

No grudge at all, some of the best resolutions come from a spirited exchange. Great idea on talking to pro labs. Let me know

I haven’t really read through the thread but...haven’t black women been wearing this stuff for generations? I don’t believe they’ve ever been marked out as suffering any one disease disproportionately. Devil’s advocate - not trying to negate any previous points.

Yes they have, but in a completely different manner as I had mentioned prior. They do not shave their head exposing their dermal scalp. They apply a pantyhose like material over top of their hair and then fit the wig on top of that if any adhesive it is a very miniscule amount at the hairline. They also do not leave it on for 1 to 4 weeks, typically it's a few days, or off every evening. It's not anything like what we're doing.

If that were the case I would have nothing to say on the matter. The only possible exposure could be getting it onto to your hair, which presents no risk. The risk is when it's applied to your extremely vascular scalp for prolonged periods.

Lastly, not saying this is ONLY because of wigs, but African Americans are disproportionately affectedby cancer in the United States.
They ranked number one.

Just stating statistics, but they are not known for making the wisest decisions nor for having the good health, actually quite the opposite....... I certainly wouldn't mimic their life choices...

A wig cap would be great if we could figure out a way to use it

I know a lot of girls who wear lace fronts. Clipped into a wig cap all around but in the front, where they use Got2B

Are you talking Got2B or wig cap, or both?
We've discussed both. I brought up the wig cap on a gentleman suggested that the product is safe because black women have been wearing wigs forever and I explained that they doing a very different matter.

The other Gentleman on the board pointed out that got to be is just a Melting Pot of chemicals that is not designed to be on your scalp, which I completely agree with.

Got it, thanks for clarifying. I've ordered some tape for the perimeter and want to use Ghostbond or some other glue for the hairline. If it turns out that the taped perimeter doesn't work for me or I have some allergic reactions to tape will it be possible for me to use the glue for the PU rim? I have watched a few videos of guys attaching with tape at home and it looks complicated, but I imagine applying layers of glue all the way around to conform with the PU rim would be a nightmare. Is bond glue bond even possible with a PU rim?

Yes, you can use glue on part or all of the system lace, or poly / PU.

You may want to give Keepers skin MD a try. It's a lightly medicated scalp protector. Might work for you!

Again, thanks. My first system will be a fine mono, already ordered, I assume the glue bonding applies to mono as well.
I know it's old technology but when they showed me the fine mono base next to a lace I did not see any appreciable difference.
At the time I liked the idea of more durability, hope I didn't make a mistake.

Yes, the method of adhesion should not be different for mono lace or poly.

I've always heard how terribly thick and bad mono is, but I have never physically seen one so that's just me repeating what I've heard which is never a good idea :)

I'd be curious to see how it turns out and how happy you are with mono. I've always heard they do last an exceptionally long time

I will definitely post in January when the piece comes in. Nervous as hell.
Here are some comparison pics of the various bases.
