Hello everyone,
I am a 22 year old boy from Bulgaria. I have been lurking on this forum from about 1 year, but just recently decided to actually register and start posting on it.
I suffer from stage 3 (vertex) male pattern baldness, according to the Norwood Hairloss Chart (google it if you don't know what exactly that chart consists of). My grandfather (my father's father), my father and my uncle (his brother) are all completely bald, so best guess is my baldness is inherited. I started noticing my temples got larger around the time I turned 16. Since then, I tried a great variety of cosmetic and natural "remedies" to male pattern baldness, but they all failed, some completely, others to a great extend. About a year ago, I stumbled upon this forum and gradually got influenced by the idea to try the treatments discussed here. In October 2007 I started applying 1ml minoxidil twice a day on my scalp and washing my hair with 2% Nizoral 3 times a week. By the time Spring 2008 came, I noticed almost no results at all, so I decided to go further and treat my hair with The Big Three. I started taking Finpecia on 15 May, 0.2mg a day. I used a method, proposed by some guys here, in which you dissolve finasteride in alcohol and then take a predetermined dose of it each day, according to how much finasteride you want to take per day.
So far, the only results I can notice, to be honest, are: my hair sheds quite aggressively, no signs of regrowth, except around the lower parts of my temples (above the edges of the eyebrows). I also have much dandruff and my hair gets oily quicker than before. I do not experience side effects from finasteride (like lack of libido etc), except a temporal slight headache right after I take my daily dose (which is due to hormonal disbalance, as some people on this forum stated).
I plan on changing my regimen the following way:
0.5 mg of Finpecia (internally - half a pill) every 2nd day.
~ 0.1 mg of Finpecia (topically, with my minoxidil application) every day (3 tablets in a bottle of 65ml).
2 ml minoxidil (topically, 1ml in the morning and 1ml in the evening) daily.
Nizoral 2% 3 times a week.
Multivitamins every day.
Eat a lot of rice and fish and drink green tea.
I would really appreciate your help with advice, comments, criticism and suggestions, guys. I do not have much knowledge about hairloss and also I do not have much finance to pay for expensive treatments. That is why I seek your help in making my regimen as cost-effective as possible. I also would like to know what do you think about taking 0.5 mg finasteride every second day and not daily. I base this application on a chart I found several times on this forum.
[
According to it, if you take 0.5 mg every 2nd day you are very well off in inhibiting DHT (and is probably better than taking 0.25 daily). Also, it is probable that by taking lower dosage I will minimize the risk of side effects.
I also wonder if you guys can give me a clue if applying 0.1mg finasteride topically with my minoxidil is a good approach. I would really appreciate if you support me with information about proper dosage and other important things to know before I go with topical application of Finasteride.
Also, I order my Finpecia from GHDrugs.com. If you, guys, know whether this supplier is good and its products - viable, please, state your opinion. I know most of you order from United Pharmacies, but they have troubles shipping to Bulgaria ( if some of you have successfully received shipments from United in Bulgaria - please, tell me). If you can suggest a better supplier for my country - please, do so. I order my minoxidil from Dr. Lee and have heard it is good. If you believe to the contrary and know a better supplier (cost-effective on top) - please, tell me.
So, that is it for now, I will follow this tread carefully before I start my new regimen. I would really really appreciate your help.
Thank you in advance!
