How old are you?

To TynanW.....

Yes, I do have a full head of hair right now - but let me tell you two things.
Firstly, I have rather fine hair to begin with , plus an oily scalp (I never had thick badass hair like some of you guys had before hairloss) and I would get plenty of comments from various stupid people at an age like 16 that I'm "going to go bald early" or even better, that I've already started to go bald. Even from those ****ards whose father and both grandfathers are bald i.e. who will almost 100% go bald sooner or later. I know that I should'nt be so bitter, but one guy, whose 19 right now (1.5 years elder to me) WAS (note the past tense) particularly enthusiastic in making fun of my supposed hairloss. He would tell me "ha, ha, you're going to be a cueball by the time you're thirty" . This was a matter of a little over a year ago. And now his temples are ****ed (one of them is a NW2, the other is atleast a NW2.5, so this is no mature hairline) and quite a bit of thinning on top, as well as worse thinning at the crown(his scalp is clearly visible in patches around the crown whorl in normal lighting). All this in a 19 year old. Three guesses as to whose going to be a cueball by 30.
OK, enough of bitterness there. Secondly, there is some significant male pattern baldness on my mother's side of the family, and I will not be sure that I'm not following that pattern until 30. And it is not some slight recession or thinning, it is quite bald (NW6). So my aim is to basically prevent hairloss before it has even started to be noticeable to me (and I know my hair so well, that if I start balding, I'll pretty much know the exact day when it starts.)
BTW, how old are you, Tynan and when did you start balding?
Cheers, and best of luck,
Arjun

started thinning 2 years ago when i was 15 , im now 17 and on minoxidil and nizoral... its treally disturbing since guys at my age care more about their body , more about sports but all i care about is my hair and its sucks to see kids in school with full head of thick hair that i wish to have... Hairloss ruined my life at an early age , im hoping to get an hair transplant when im 21 if things dont work out, so i can have a good amount of hair to play with since now i have a thin, dull not "alive" hair .. i cant even style it, only good look is the "messy" style where i put most of my hair on front all together so they look fuckin "fuller", i fuckin hate this, my dad is %90 bald at front and i think my hair type looked like his, both my uncles have thick head of hair, this sucks.

23- Probably started thining around 20. Shaved my head the first day i noticed the ol' temples goin.
Luckily i actually look better with it shaved, but there is a MASSIVE difference between having a shaved head and having a balding shaved head in how people percieve you, as i have found out in the ups and downs of being on treatments the last year and a half.
Arjun- I hope you gave the wanker who made fun of you it back twice as bad now he's the one loosing it. I know its pretty low, but people like him deserve all they get.

It'll be interesting to poll people's age plus where they are balding.
I'm wondering if most of the younger posters(25ish) might just be having a typical maturing hairline instead of balding on the crown/thinning.

I'm 35 and started losing my hair 3 years ago.
First I shed slowly and eventually ended up with a
"mature hairline", now it's just a slow shed with no regrowth.
I have a decent hairline still, just no sprouts anymore. :(
I'm currently not on any regimine other than nizoral 1% (12 years),
Vites, supplements.
