26 now, started thinning when I was 19. It seemed like a couple weeks after I turned 19 I got a full hairy chest and my hair diffused overnight. It really didn't get bad till I was 23 - 24. Doesn't matter though, I bic my head and have a handsome face. Chicks don't care as long as you've got some game and confidence. Remember that.

I'm 33....I probably started receding at around 19 or 20....I remember looking at myself in the mirror and thinking "oh sh*t, I'll be a cue ball in 5 years."

When I was in college, I used to look at some of my friends and be envious, because I thought they would keep their hair and I wouldn't.

Currently 2 of those guys (that I thought didn't have to worry about male pattern baldness) are pretty much all bald, but I still have most of my hair.

The difference?? I do the following. They do not.

I have been on 1mg of finasteride(propecia/proscar) for 3.5 years

Minoxidil 5% (both Rogaine and Generic versions) for 2.5 years

Nizoral 1% every 3 days

L'Oreal Vive Shampoo every other day that i don't use nizoral

I also use Couvre for good measure.

Long story short, thanks to this website. I discovered the big 3, as well as couvre, and have kept most of my hair intact.

I guess my signature says it all, mostly. I first noticed my thinning when I was sixteen; or, rather, my uncle noticed it and commented it. If it was visible enough for others already at sixteen, I may as well have started at fourteen or fifteen.

As my signature says, I'm twenty now (just turned). I've been shaving my head since this summer, and was ready to give up (the hairsite.com-forums can get really depressing) until I found gourmetstylewellness.com, which sparked a new interest in giving medication a try.

22 now. I don't know when i first started losing my hair. I never took notice of my hairline. I do know that i developed a mature hairline at around 17 from old family photo's. At that time i went from a NW1.5, which i was born with to a NW2. Now im a NW3 almost. Althought that Norwood chart doesnt accuratly reprasent everyones hairloss.

I'm 19, nearly 20. I noticed a slight thinning area in my hairline at 16, I grew my hair out and it wasn't noticeable then. A year later the back of my head started to thin which wasn't really noticeable either. Then once I turned 19 I was forced into shaving my head completely because my hair had begun to thin out all over, except for the sides, and in direct light my hair looked awful and I was sick of the comments I was getting.

Thinning Sucks said:
Thinning at 18, now 40.

minoxidil since 1985. Propecia since FDA approved for public ('99?). Nizoral since Nov. Couvre since 1993. Frontal/Mid hair transplant 300 grafts 1996.

Frontal recently taking a beating. Crown very thin, but maintaining. Diffuse all over.

Propecia was approved by the FDA in 1997.
---------------------------

Almost forgot, Started lossing my hair at age 20 but I think sooner then that. I'm 22 years old now and been on propeica for 20 mouths now.

22 now. Though probably thinning since I was 19. Although it wasn't go to doctor visible until probably 20. Doing the big 3, I find when I'm less stressed the hair is too, so keep it together guys :)
