Honestly, after looking more into it, I am starting to believe that I have Telogen Effluvium because of a few things.

In december I had a real bad stressful event happen to me and nearly killed myself. Then around April the hairloss started in clumps. Its been going at the same rate since april. The hairs that are falling are still thick and have not miniaturized at all. Also my family has 0 history of diffuse hairloss. Even my dad who was NW6 didnt have diffuse hairloss like me, he receded from the hairline all the way to the back but my hairline is still pretty much the same as it was before shedding. Other balding people in my family say they never lost 300+ hairs per day in their life and that seems crazy to them even though they are balding. Ontop of all that, I have been on finasteride over a month and there is 0 signs of any improvement in the shedding. The hairs that are falling still look healthy and full too. The only thing is that not all of them have a white bulb on them which makes me unsure. Telogen Effluvium lasts on average 6 months right, I have only been shedding for 4 months so its gonna be interesting to see if this is male pattern baldness or Telogen Effluvium.

I actually think you might be one of the few people on here who actually has legitimate telogen effluvium, considering how insane your hair loss is. Have you had your thyroid checked?

Yup got my TSH levels checked and it came out all normal. This was at a walk in clinic where the doctor said I might have Telogen Effluvium. Thing is I know that going but but thinking you have Telogen Effluvium is a meme and I didnt want to fall into it but all the signs are saying Telogen Effluvium. Especially considering that even while on finasteride for over a month I am losing 300+ hairs per day with no change in hairloss. The shedding might not be androgen related.

What else can I do?
Topical DHT blocker. RU58841, Rosemary Oil, Azelaic Acid.

RU is the strongest by far and what I'd suggest. The other two put together probably don't block 1/3 as much. But almost anything would help in your case.

So many people come on forums and say "Is it stress!? Is it Telogen Effluvium?" and about 95% of them never regrow the hair they lost. I hope you get lucky(so to speak), but I wouldn't count on it. Treat the androgen side as well. If it's really just Telogen Effluvium you can recover at any time. If it's really AA, there's not a very wide window. The more hair you lose, the less will ever come back.

As of right now, im using finasteride, rogaine, nizorol, rosemary oil. Going to add topical saw palmetto, caffeine shampoo and possibly RU58841. Thing is, if this is not Telogen Effluvium, it means my balding genes are very agressive to the point where fighting it would probably be a waste of time.

DHT is strong with you in this one. Better take a DHT blocker like finasteride before it's too late

Do you think it could be Telogen Efflubvium? I know it is a meme where people who are balding always think its due to stress but honestly this rate of hairloss is rare even for people who become NW7.

I had a nasty shed(for me) of at least 100 hairs per day. I was getting thick scalp sebum secretions as well. I started using RU58841 and within 2 days, the shed was down to maybe 20 hairs. The gunk dried up in another 2 days and the shed was over.

Your case is obviously far more severe. So I'm not saying RU58841 will stop it. But it's probably your best bet(technically it's probably Darolutamide, but that's not easy to source atm).

Same thing happening to me man. 7 months ago my ex would play with my hair with no signs of thinning. Less than 3 months ago someone mentioned a thinning spot on my crown. Now my whole head is diffused HARD. Been on finasteride for almost two months and my hair is a lot worse than baseline (but a bit less hairs in the shower than before).

This all started after an extremely stressful event 6 months ago. Unfortunately I think stress just activateS male pattern baldness with a Telogen Effluvium. It’s hard to find success stories of people recovering from Telogen Effluvium. No one in my
family went bald except one out of 4 brothers on my moms side.

Lets f*****g hope we have telogen effluvium. I heard Telogen Effluvium sheds last 6 months on average. Considering ur family history I think you have a good shot at recovery.

I’m hoping, my mom also has female pattern baldness I believe, she sheds a lot. But she’s also in her 60s.

It’s crazy how stress can do this. Even if it’s irreversible, I know stress started this hair loss.

With my shedding, im positive that the hairs are growing back. Because ive been shedding for 4 months now 300+ hairs a day and im still not completely bald.Obviously now my scalp is getting way more visible but I should be bald already considering how much I lose per day. Regardless im staying on finasteride even though its not doing sh*t right now I cant take no risks lol.

I’m getting pretty close to bald lol. But my hair’s long, might be covering regrowth?? Let’s hope something good happens

I think it's Telogen Effluvium, but I have just one teeny-tiny bit of doubt. Isn't Telogen Effluvium supposed to affect all the hair on the head and not just those present in NW6 zone?

According to WebMD:

"Telogen Effluvium happens when there is a change in the number of hair follicles growing hair. If the number of hair follicles producing hair drops significantly for any reason during the resting, or telogen phase, there will be a significant increase in dormant, telogen stage hair follicles. The result is shedding, or Telogen Effluvium hair loss.

Telogen Effluvium appears as a diffuse thinning of hair on the scalp, which may not be even all over. It can be a bit more severe in some areas of the scalp than others. Most often, the hair on top of the scalp thins more than it does at the sides and back of the scalp. There is usually no hair line recession, except in a few rare chronic cases.

The shed hairs are typically telogen hairs, which can be recognized by a small bulb of keratin on the root end. Whether the keratinized lump is pigmented or unpigmented makes no difference; the hair fibers are still typical telogen hairs.

People with Telogen Effluvium never completely lose all their scalp hair, but the hair can be noticeably thin in severe cases. While Telogen Effluvium is often limited to the scalp, in more serious cases Telogen Effluvium can affect other areas, like the eyebrows or pubic region."

Do the hairs predominantly have small bulbs of keratin on the root end?

How’s your shedding going? Still down
I counted a little less than 20 hairs in the shower today. For the past week it’s been like that, aside from one day where it was definitely over 50 (I wore a hat all day the day before). Which is a lot better than when I started where I’d stop counting at 30 and still have more than that I’m my other hand.

With that being said, with the amount of density that I’ve lost in the past few months, I think I may just be shedding a proportionate amount. Does that sound reasonable?

Ill try to post a picture of my heas today. I was told by someone else that its thinning in a NW6 pattern but it kind of looks like its thinning all over.

A lot of the hairs have the white bulb on them but the others dont. I would say 25% of the hairs do while the rest dont but it might just not be too visible to my eyes for the other ones since my vision is sh*t. Take a look at those pics I posted, does it look like theres a bulb?

I just did the pull test and all the hairs have bulbs on them.

This means nothing. Androgenetic Alopecia will shorten the anagen phase in your thinning areas and by result you will have a positive pull test.

No one can tell if you have a telogen effluvium based on what you post online... if we could see your scalp with a microscope maybe we could tell but even then it would be hard as you likely have some amount of Androgenetic Alopecia element as well and we would see miniaturized hairs

Even if you do have a telogen it’s not necessarily good news if you have Androgenetic Alopecia+Telogen Effluvium it doesn’t necessarily grow back
