I have know that I have been receding for a while. Many of you on these board have said you don't see it but I know my hair and I know it has changed over the years. I knew that once I hit nearly 30 it would kick it at a much faster rate and I feel it really has on my hairline. What is most annoying is it has only been aggressively attacking my left hairline which was always my 'better' side. I know a few of you will wonder why I shaved it. Well a few reasons.. I have a batch that has got quite bad over the last 3 months. It has been aggressive and to me this is an indicator of what is about to come. The itch that I have had for the past two weeks on my head is so annoying. It itches so badly to the point I just want to rip off my scalp. Guess where it is itching the most? Yep in the balding patch on my hairline, Also on my other side of my hairline. The temple points are also itching and my damn crown to. In fact my crow is not showing sighs on thinning and that's itching quite badly. The amount of dandruff I was getting to was just embarrassing!
So why have I shaved my head? I know that the receding and balding is getting ready to kick in. All the signs are there. The fact I am itching to badly on my head and also I am now getting denser body hair and facial hair also suggests to me that that the DHT is now doing it's job and the switch has been flicked!
I would much rather get used to shaving my head now than do it when it has become very noticeable. I also don't want to see myself go really thin in that respect all over. I want to rey and learn to own the bald look and accept it. It's going to be hard but I am in the anger stage.
So why don't I get on the meds? Well a number of reasons. I suffer from mental health problems and I already take medications for that. I really don't want to take anymore meds. I am not keen on trying to minimizr DHT as it always does quite a few other things in the body. I cannot afford to take it either and there is no way I am going to use that rogane everyday either. I will add that I have no problems with anyone taking meds and good for you if you do as it it YOUR body so you have the choice to do what you like.
I am attaching some pictures underneath in albums. I will show you what my head looks like now and you will notice the thinning patch above the mole and also the small thinning patch on the top of my head. I have also included pictures of that same area from 1-2 years ago. As you can see I shaved my head before but that was purely for the style. You will see that the hairline used to stay inline with itself but now it goes very diffuse. I also included a picture of all the dandruff in my hair when I shaved it for you to get an idea of how bad it got.
My hair before I shaved it, show miniaturization and the thinning area. http://imgur.com/a/8PlxL
My head now shaved showing the thinning spot in the hairline and on top of the head http://imgur.com/a/vSyuh
My awful dandruff and skin patches http://imgur.com/a/FE9CT
My hairline before it started to diffuse. You can see how the hairline above the mole actually used to be lower but now it is higher and empty with a few mini hairs http://imgur.com/a/tVVOw
Question: Where my hair is not thinned in my hairline, What has caused the hairs to face a different direction. When I used to take a picture before they would kind of all flow in the same direction but now they are pointing upwards! Is this down to the diffusing or is it down to the fact I had a parting and my hairs became 'trained' ?
Again I know many of you would like to have the hair I have atm but I know my own hair and I know that in the next 6 months I will have the outline of the island forming.
I just feel **** about it all. I am very young looking and get told I look about 19 all the time but I am 28 and I really don't suit this look. I am gutted about this happening and wish I didn't have male pattern baldness. My dad uncle and both grandads manage to deal with it so I guess I will in time. I would love to have those cool new hairstyles but I don't want to watch myself diffuse. I am in the stage of anger now, I am past the admitting stage.
