I think I'm quitting Nizoral 2%

It is making my hair fall out when I use it. I know this because on the off days when I use my regular shampoo I have hardly any hairs shed. On nizoral days it is at least 12-20 hairs. No comparison.

Do people often have problems with nizoral, or is this unusual? This is frustrating to me as I want to be doing as much as possible for hairloss. Other than nizoral I take Propecia, but would like to add to my regimen.

Do you suppose it is connected to the shampoo I presoak it with (Jasons tea tree), or that I am leaving it in for too long or rubbing too vigorously?

Could I be allergic to it?

Lastly, can I use 1% or Revita?

Please help, I want to strengthen my regimen but don't want to worsen hairloss. Thanks.

I have great results with 1% Nizoral. I'm using it 3 times a week. I was also prewash my hair with other shampoo but I stopped it. Now I prewash with Nizoral then wash it off after around a minute then I wash my hair with nizoral again and leave it for around 4-5 min.
I never had any bad experience with Nizoral shampp.

I get the same "shed" when I use nizoral.

I used to use nizoral pretty much everyday and I didn't notice any shed. I started noticing the "shed" only when i switched to 2x week nizoral.

IMO, what we experience isn't a shed in a sense that we lose more hairs than we should, but the powerful nizoral makes the telogene hairs fall off.

Yes, there is "statistical evidence" that it works.... Search the forums, you'll find the info you are looking for.

If you dont suffer from these 2 things, keep off the stuff.

There is at least one study that shows using keto increases hair diameter, as well as increasing hair count.

In other words, only 1 study has made that claim and that study was done and paid for by Nizoral. While every other tests so far shows nothing. You decide.

The FDA have never approved Nizoral as a hair loss product for a good reason. If it did, the company would have it all plastered all over the packaging.

Im not slagging off nizoral. I have a bottle in my bathroom and use it once in a while if i need a good wash on the scalp.

My point is, Nizoral does nothing for hairloss, as my previous posts showed.
For dandruff and fungi, great stuff.
I dont want forum members to mistakenly use it thinking it'll increase their hair thickness etc., but overuse it and cause more shedding then anything beneficial.

Saying that, one needs to be careful with it. Using it everyday is probably not a good idea as it can dry the scalp.

That is one study that I found. It does show how nizoral is definitely helpful.


I don't use nizoral but I also use a 2% ketoconazole shampoo. I use Dr. Lees.

My scalp itches much less now. I think this has something to do with the inflammation. It does feel much better at this point. I leave the shampoo on for a long while in the shower, then wash it off.

It can't do much on it's own. But in combination with finasteride and minoxidil I am pretty sure most users will have success. I believe the majority might even regrow some hair or gain some thickness.

I definitely think it is a very important part of a hair loss regimen. Just by the different way my scalp feels when using such a shampoo.
