Probably another futile post, but I HAVE to keep trying. I tried finasteride for a year in 2015 which caused unexplainable inflammation, which continues to this day.

It's unbearable. I can't cope with this.

Now, it is this INTENSE pressure throughout the entire hair line. Like blood is just rushing to the area all the time. Burning also. I have itching and crawling through midscalp and crown, which basically stops on the sides and back in the NW7 pattern. Still losing way too much hair throughout.

Here's what I've tried religiously.

-minoxidil
-stemox
-antiinflammatory supplements - curcumin, tumeric, etc...
- sprays - metaderm

The only thing that ACTUALLY works is drinking, which I cannot continue to do. If I don't drink, my nights are a nightmare just because of the horrendous inflammation.

Herbal shampoo (sls free), coaltar T gel, and nizoral a little too. Combine those 3 with brushing ur hair everyday you will get rid of this..

Scalp inflammation is super tricky. I'm still dealing with it since my teens so almost 20 years. There r specific conditions that can cause it like seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis. Your scalp will show telltale signs like redness, oily flakes, buildup, scales etc.

I suffered from seb derm early on especially around puberty. I also have psoriasis on my body and assume there is some on my scalp. For these issues you'll need to rotate shampoos like nizoral, coal tar, tsal, tea tree oil, pto, etc. These have helped some.

When my itch is out of control I'll take a benadryl or zyrtec before I sleep and chances are it will decrease by next day.

I find anxiety and stress increase my inflammation and I self diagnosed myself with scalp dysesthesia (aka tricodynia). Usually there are no telltale signs of scalp issues but lots of inflammation. A small study and a few folks on here from back in the day have found relief from low dose antidepressants.

Also you can use topical corticosteroids but these r not made for long term use. I sometimes use scalpicin bc it's hydrocortisone 1% which is the least powerful one so I assume it's better to use as frequently as I need.

Sleep is very important at least for me for scalp inflammation. If I sleep less than 6 or 7 Hours my scalp will itch/burn all night. And I'm talking restful uninterrupted sleep.

I would slowly try different things to see if one helps.

PM me if you need more info or have questions. Good luck

I have flakes as well, using nizoral like usually 3-4 sometimes 5 a week. It settled down in summer where my scalp felt super clean no flake no dandruff at all but after i apply minoxidil i get some flakes here and there after it stays on for a while.

Bucky have your dog lick your scalp. I think that might be the cure.
