Another update. Its been almost a week since i took the last picture and its honestly never looked worse. The thinning has crept closer to middle of my hairline and is beginning to resemble norwood 3... Almost gained a whole norwood in 3 weeks FML. Any advice guys????

I went below baseline on finasteride and never recovered so it can happen. I don't know why it happens but it can. I posted on another thread asking a person who has a twin who said this is happening to him too. I asked if his twin was identical and if he was taking Propecia as he said his twin was doing better hair wise than him. He never answered me.

i am the guy with a twin . And my twin is off propecia for 7 month and his hairline is receding fast right now .
So this wasn't the propecia not working but the fat taht my male pattern baldness is too strong for propecia

Been taking it for over 10 years now and never got back to baseline and I would say its slowed it down but it has not stopped it.

Did you go through an increase in loss initially and what norwood are you now?

I started as diffuse NW1 with overall diffuse thinning but the crown was great. Now, close to a NW2A with more diffuse thinning including the crown. However, I was diffusing in my late 20s in a 2A pattern but never knew it until early 30's and used Revivogen which did help maintain it for many years. Never paid attention to my hair until much later in life. But now looking back at some old photos, I was slowing receding and diffuse thinning all over. My dad was a NW5/6 at my age so I am doing better than him.

Wow it really seems like you're having much more success than me as im 19 and already ahead of your hairloss ( at temples ) but did you notice an increase in hairloss initally? Becausr my temples are now obviously worse than 2 months ago. I wasnt so sure a couple of weeks ago but now its clear as day. Sucks real hard right now. Im not even sure if ill make it to the 6 month mark this recession is agonisingly fast!

Yes, I went below baseline about the 8 month on Propecia and never got back to it.

I tried dustateride and it made my hair line worse and caused more sides. I am now using Gaunitz minoxidils and shampoo. I am starting to get regrowth in my temples. If my right side continues to grow I will be filling in some temple loss. His minoxidils are the best I ever used in liquid form.

Wait, weren't you the one who stopped using minoxidil because, in your opinion, it only gave the illusion of having more hair and in the end it wasn't the thing you were looking for?

Just curious, did you get extremely great results with minoxidil? I am considering to use it as well, hoping to improve the quality of my hair (robustness, strength). Instead of straight hair, my hair has become wavy due to male pattern baldness.

Yes, I did say that but after all these years I noticed something with people who had the best success. They all used minoxidil with finasteride. I have quit minoxidil at least 10 times due to sides. I have finally found minoxidils that work for me. My hair has diffused over the years and I do need the "illusion" of more hair so that is why I put it back in my treatment plan.

I thought that too but ive been receding since 14 ( sucks bad man ) and it was gradual. Since on propecia thats done about six months worth in 3 weeks! I hope it doesnt get any worse and its just a shed but it really can make things worse, hopefully il regain ground but i doubt it

How the hell did Dutasteride manage to make your hair loss worse?? It's so much stronger than Fina it should do the job better..

Please ANSWER ME about this point cause I'm currently switching to Duta myself

Do you reckon it was propecia that brought you below baseline ? Does this happen to many people and if so , why ?
The theory is that Propecia does not work well at the hairline and sometimes when you start Propecia it causes your androgen receptors at the hairline to become more sensitive to DHT even when you lower it. Don't know how true this might be. Another reason is you just are a poor responder. For my case, I think that might be it. I don't see many people regrowing their hairline by Propecia alone. Most add minoxidil to the mix and get better hairline growth. Propecia is not as good of a growth stimulant as minoxidil. Propecia is better at slowing things down or help you maintain.
