How the hell did Dutasteride manage to make your hairline worse?? It's so much stronger than Fina it should do the job better..

Please ANSWER ME about this point cause I'm currently switching to Duta myself

Quick update guys. This is the second day ive stopped taking propecia. My hair is now visually worse off from it, the temple hairs are INVISIBLE close to the root, which was never the case before and still wouldn't have been had i never touched the stuff. Ive probably permenantly turned on the balding process in those hairs which is a real kick in the teeth. I'll continue to update and let you know if i recover, which i probably wont. Let this serve as a warning for anybody wanting to stop a receding hairline. I think the elevated T causes the recession of hairlines. I count myself lucky i got out of it when I did or my loss could of been alot worse. For those who are gonna tell me it was just the shed, it was accelerated THINNING of my temples, i did not shed while on propecia. The hair strands go from thin to completely transparent, almost as if as soon as i started taking it my male pattern baldness kicked into overdrive.

Of course this wont be everyones experience but please take a moment to consider propecia CAN leave you worse off and ive provided photographic evidence to prove it. ( its actually much worse now )

Im done with treatments. I may give propecia another shot in a few years when im balder, it may help then? Who knows?
Anyway thanks for reading through my failed attempt at trying to stop male pattern baldness. Ill update in a month or two and let you know if i still have the accelerated loss or if ive regained ground. Until then im going to be looking into hair pieces, i sure as hell dont want to be rock slick bald by 23 - 24

Hey dude and apart from accelerated loss i did not experience any sides. How long were you on minoxidil for? Did you just shed and shed with no regrowth?
I'll be honest i have been tempted by minoxidil but i think ill just forget about any treatments and let nature take its course, because i honestly think ill bald slower without them!
Had i stayed on propecia i'd be shaving my head in a year, 2 at best since im already norwood 2.5

I didn't notice a massive shed at the start it was bad for my scalp itching and redness i used ir for 5 months then I stopped cuz it made my hair shittyy with all the flaking any way after I stopped the mother of all shedding started and it continues till last November
I shaved my head with a razor after the hairs start growing i was shedding these small black hairs about half cm long it was horrible I stopped using nizoral too

I don't get why you're ceasing treatment 2 months in, this is when your hair SHOULD look the shittiest. If you have any hope of it getting better I don't see why you'd consider quitting propecia as an option. ESPECIALLY considering the fact that you said it's helping scalp inflammation/ irritation.

Give it a fair run, 6 months AT LEAST

I never said it helped scalp inflammation/irritation, i never had those symptoms on or off propecia. The reason im deciding to stop treatment is simply because of the thinning i am experiencing, i could handle a shed but all i am seeing is pronounced increase in baldness. If things continue heading south at the same rate as they were on propecia then i guess i may as well jump back on. However if i notice it slow down again then i'll know it was the propecia that is hurting my hair. I mean DHT cant be responsible for 100% of male pattern baldness cases, can it? I think T does play a bigger part than most think. Either way im sh*t out of luck.

Andy you dumbass stick to the meds and throw in nizoral and minoxidil. You've just cost yourself a norwood because you are too paranoid to stick to the program. KEEP TAKING PROPECIA OR YOU WILL CRASH AND GET POST FINASTERIDE SYNDROME THE ONLY WAY TO SAME YOURSELF IS TO KEEP TAKING. CONTINUE TAKING IT IF YOU WANT YOUR PENIS.

Actually, my initial loss at the hairline on meds was almost identical to OP's (although it was spread out over the first 6 months or so). It's now been nearly 8 months for me on finasteride (about 1.5 years on minoxidil) and while the rate of recession has slowed, I'm definitely still thinning with no sign of regrowth. Yeah, this **** sucks balls.

Update here guys,so after my rage ive calmed down.. still losing aggressively mind you, but after 4 days of noticed continued thinning i got back on it at 1mg, then next week 0.5 for about another week now im getting back on 1mg as my S5 cream arrived ( topical spironolactone) i have long hair and its a pain to apply but if it at least helps me maintain i can deal with it...

As for the showers im losing quite a bit at the moment ( about 30 washing, 20 drying and about 10 blow drying ) im not particularly bothered by this as its been worse pre propecia but i somehow seemed to lose less hair.

One thing ive noticed on propecia is that mainly the hairs im shedding are the hairline and temporal areas, which are now almost completely gone with a thinning hairline. Before it was usually thicker hair probably from around my whole head.. i hope this is just a shed and my hair will grow back but my roots are thinning so i doubt that. If all else fails there is oral spironolactone with some gyno meds but obviously i really dont want to have to resort to that, but the desire to live my 20s with hair is deep, thanks for reading and ill update again in maybe a month ( FYI these are my early days of month 3 including the 4 day break and ive started using nizoral every 2 - 3 days for the last week and a half )

Said i wouldnt be back for a while, but ive added dermarolling into my reigme with S5 cream for extra effectiveness, there was also a study i read on here about how plucking hairs can cause follicles to regenerate? Im hoping the dermarolling will help sort of in the same manner as i know its at least good for cell regeneration on your skin anywhere. as from what ive seen, with the exception of rare cases hairline regrowth is very difficult with finasteride alone so i figured a topical is a must in every regime and my choice is simple. spironolactone lowers T and finasteride raises it so in theory topically applied spironolactone especially with dermarolling should negate this or at least block this from happening to my follicles right?

I guess the only way im gonna find out is to continue with it myself because 3 months ago i had hair i wouldnt mind maintaining, now its hard to conceal and i want it back. Still not touching minoxidil, The likely shed terrifies me so that will likely be a last resort along side oral spironolactone.

Thanks for reading ill be back to post on this in about a month, and if things are looking good i will post pics! :)

PS. Im being cautious as i didnt think i'd get the dreaded hair loss acceleration side :'( So im not gonna get too psyched but since this new reigme at least im feeling better about doing more for my hair. Bye all!
