Hi Guys,
I have been taking the minoxidil 5% solution for close to 2 yrs now and recently also started finpecia (finasteride) 1mg one a day (now been on it for around 3/4 months).
There are however two problems:
1. This seems to be working but when I feel my hair with my hands its still thinner and feels brittle - it actually feels like the hair texture has changed and not for the better, so much different to those 18 year old's or so that I see out with great hair and wonderful hair styles. Why is this - is it because the alcohol in the minoxidil solution is actually doing more harm than good? Usually when i put minoxidil on my scalp I don't just limit myself to the serious thinning areas but try to put it on every part evenly. And then if alcohol is actually doing the harm why do they include the ingredient in the first place?
2. I have a problem with scalp irritation - the skin on the forehead is often itchy and flaky sometimes even a little red (there are are a lot of flakes on the top of my forehead). I also seem to have flakes (big ones) on my hair - evident when I use the brush.. ;( I've been to a doctor who gave me Hydracort cream to treat the irritation but although it seems to relieve the irritation to some extent its still there and whenever I put some gel for going out in weekends the problem is excoriated after I come back home after a night of partying and wash my hair (to remove the gel).
Any advice would be appreciated. As a side note i'm 28 yrs old and my father is bald.
thanks in advance.
