GGXX said:I've been reading from some that Nizoral may be too harsh on your hair. What do they mean? Is it slightly acidic or something? And why would it be bad in any manner when it supposedly improves your hair?
I've found no evidence of it being acidic. It is however true that it dries the hair and scalp. This is because it reduces sebum in your scalp. Sebum is needed to moisturise the scalp and hair and without it your scalp and hair is left dry.
Good points
-prevents sebum clogging dht in the scalp.
-Kills bacteria which can lead to inflammation and prevent hair growth.
-weak androgen (supposivelly)
-stimulant similair to 2%minoxidil (see above post)
Bad points
-dries the scalp and hair making it look fried
-shedding (lots)
-can irritate the scalp if used too much
-can cause similair side effect as minoxidil (light headedness, rapid heart beat)
Furthernote
-shedding is normal and starts to subside after a few weeks of use.
-use twice a week.
-leave it on for 5mins before washing it out.
-dont use too much of it (two small drops)

Wash nizoral out with conditioner and use brylcreme. It returns moisture to the scalp and hair and keeps it looking thick. I have no problems since doing this.
