Picked this up on a coffee table at a friend's house and was nonchalantly flipping through their 'study on men'. Some survey found that men would rather go without sex than lose their hair. They ended up tying this to a man's need to appear as a gladiator/soldier. Virile and able to triumph over anything thrown his way.

appearance seems to be everything although history has shown most great minds and accomplishments were done by thin headed men. unfortunately woman would prefer a gorgeous a**h** over a really nice personality.twisted

im sure the vast majority of men would prefer a gorgeous babe rather than an ugly one.

its just a fact that better looking people have genes that lend themselves to further proliferation. this is purely by virtue of the the fact that more attractive people are more desirable to the other sex, therefore the number if potnetial mates they can have is sky high.

but all the successful bald guys - and even ugly women get attractive mates - think Janet Street Porter and Normski! Generally I would say that younger women do go for the looks - ie the physical strength genes but slightly older women tend to go for money, security and brains - these are also factors which will increase the chance of successful continuation of her genes.

But it's so blurred now since people hardly associate most sex with reproduction - so the guy a woman wants to sleep with for a one night stand may be pretty different from the guy she wants to marry.

But that's just the same with guys I guess. As I get older I still appreciate a good looking woman but her behaviour and intelligence play a much bigger role in how attractive she is to me. I could never see myself dating a sexy b**ch again... at least not for too long

Your always going to found ugly men or women getting a good looking guy or lady. But for the most part the better looking the guy the better looking girl, he is going to get and the easier it's going to be too, to pick them up. It's the fact of life and you know it because your on here upset about your hair. :wink:

yeah I know that having hair helps you pick up girls, but so do a lot of things some of which I have and some I don't - like most people.

Of course I think that losing my hair will affect my chances with women, but what can I do about that.

I can try and keep my hair and I can try to be cooler/richer/more interesting/fitter/nicer which are also ways of attracting women.

I know someone will always say - but women would always choose the identical twin who wasn't bald. And I agree that's almost 100% true.

But luckily real life isn't like that and you do have the chance to make yourself more attractive in another way - if not there would be no male pattern baldness genes left!

male pattern baldness genes are kept in the 'gene pool' becuase they express themselves (on average) after the age of reproduction, so you get to have sex, pass on your evil male pattern baldness gene then go bald.

The problem that most people on this forum battle is premature balding.

I agree with the rest of what is being said, it is especially true of women that attraction is more diffuse and less focused entirely on looks, especially after ones mid-twenties.

It also seems like a lot of guys on this forum rather be bald than impotent, hence the reason you see why many guys quit propecia if they have sexual side effects. sh*t, crackheads rather have crack then hair. I wouldn't want a woman laughing at me because my dick can't get hard. I rather have a hard dick and teach her a good lesson.

Now, forgive me for skimming, because I don't actually care enough to read the entire article, or thread for that matter... but I don't really understand where 'being bald' and 'being doomed to f*****g ugly girls' coincide. I've gone out with PLENTY of so called 'gorgeous babes' over the course of the past couple years... and not a single one happens to mention the fact that I'm losing my hair. It's plain as day even with a no-guard buzz cut.

It's all in the presentation. If you make it clear that losing your hair doesn't bother you, then it doesn't mean a damn to women. They can smell insecurity quicker than that stinky concoction of spironolactone and minoxidil on your dome.

THIS IS THE REASON I ADVOCATE ACCEPTANCE OVER CURES!. If you accept the fact that you are losing your hair, then 99% of the damage is averted. The aesthetic property of having beautiful lockes is just that... aesthetics. A shelby cobra can look like sh*t on the outside and still blow the doors off of a brand new BMW. It's not the paint job that makes a car high performance you know... same thing with humans.

I, for one, would rather die than be impotent. Hair is expendible, losing your virility is losing your purpose for living (instinctually speaking). Stop reading what oprah has to say... God knows the b**ch doesn't have a leg to stand on in the sexual attraction discussions anyways.

And if f*****g ugly chicks is what you're doomed to do, by all means enjoy it. They need lovin' too... and NO ONE will judge you. No matter what color the exterior is, or how many rolls you gotta push out of the way to get to it, it's ALWAYS gonna be pink inside . And if it isn't, Slip away!!! (parachutist's term for get the f*** out of dodge)

Wait I lied. As a post script I'm gonna explain something about the whole "genetic proliferation" or whatever this guy said (wasn't really paying much attention). Humans have lost most of the hairs on their body, and what's left is greatly less dense than what we had millions of years ago. If I know anything about evolution, then I'm fairly sure that if an organ (and yes, hair is a part of the dermis organ (that's skin for you morons that don't know)) is useless, then it's either augmented, or completely phased out. Hair in humans have long since been about as beneficial as an a**h** on your elbow. Theoretically, we're still evolving, and I'm pretty sure the loss of hair on your head when you reach sexual maturity is just one step on the evolutionary ladder. The horseshoe pattern is probably just an anomaly that hasn't fully implemented itself along all the scalp hairs. Give it time though. The reason why we haven't seen any real changes in the pattern of male pattern baldness is because 10,000 or so years of human perception is a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things as far as nature is concerned. Give it another 100,000 years or so and I guarantee you that there will be a lot more bald guys running around, and probably women too once the gene can proliferate itself in women.

I guess it makes me happier to think that I might be more evolved than those monkeys with more hair than me
