People in the UK- Good, cheap Propecia?

Hi all, I’m soon to finish my first 3-months on Propecia which set me back the wonderful sum of around £90. I’ve been informed that there are cheaper versions out there, but was wondering what websites you used and what deals you got? There isn’t any difference in quality is there?

Also, can it bring about any side effects? So far, I’ve been lucky in not getting any but would changing possibly cause some to be introduced?

Thanks in advance :)

Hi

Finpecia is about £10 a month from www.unitedpharmacies.co.uk. I've only been taking it for a month, and wasn't taking anything before that, but I've had no side effects so far.

As with generic pills for any condition (not just hair loss related) as long as it contains the same active ingredient (in our case 1mg finasteride) then it's the same thing - it's just that you're not paying for a brand name on the packet.

The other alternative which I'm sure you're aware of is to buy 5mg pills and cut them into 4 or 5 pieces, taking one piece per day. This is much cheaper but too much hassle for me and can be risky if there are women in your household who are pregnant or planning to be.

i can vouch for unitedpharamacies too, i paid 30quid for 100 tablets and delivery comes with a tracking number, what more could you want?

superb service and price busting value considering you see finasteride for over 3x this price

Can see what you mean, but unfortauntely I'm on a budget!

Guys, saw some good deals on inhouse and unitedpharmacies for finpecia, so guess will be going with that. Are there any issues with postage and customs though as it looks like the stuff comes from the USA or Oceania?

jamesy boy.. if your going generic you might as well get fincar. you can get a pill cuter for a few quid at any pharmacy. remember to use inhouse uk. postage takes 10-14 days. no longer. Got mine on 12th day. If customs nab you will run you an xtra 6quid or something and a trip to your local post office. Nothing to cry over.

Why advocate unnecessarily having to cut pills up into 1/4's?

Seriously, i dont understand this. How cheap exactly does this work out for you?

I buy 100 1mg finasteride tablets for £30 delivered. That's about £9 a month and the price will drop a bit more if you buy in bigger portions again. I highly doubt it'll work out much, if any, cheaper with proscar/fincar....?

Unless its half that again i wouldn't even consider that BS

slightly off topic, but I just look at unitedpharmacy website - I'm surprised they sell medications like antidepressants - I thought you needed prescriptions for those sorts of drugs?

you get 100 pills for 30quid. thats 3months worth. I get a years worth for 45quid...thats why i cut my pills.

90 tabs fincar is £45
cut into 4ths its 360days worth.

360days of your pills is £108.

so yeah it is half the price.

Whoops, hadn't realised this.

Wow, in fact. May consider this next time, just buy a years supply in one go. Cutting pills will make me feel like a druggie though lol

I would think this would be unlikely as it's the same active ingredient.

From the HMRC website:

1. When will I have to pay Customs duty and import VAT on goods purchased on the Internet from outside the European Union (EU)?

Import VAT is payable on all internet shopping bought from outside the EU where the value is above €22 (£18).

Customs duty is payable on imported goods with a value of €150 (£120), although payment is waived if the amount of duty is less than €10 (£7).

In addition to this Royal Mail will charge you to collect the duty.

14. I have just had to pay £3.23 VAT and £8 'handling fee' to receive my DVD I ordered on line. Why can’t you waive such a small amount?

We have no discretion to waive the import VAT under EU law and as soon as the £18 limit is exceeded, VAT is payable on the whole value of the package, including any postage and packing.

My 2nd order from United is on its way now. I didn't have any problems with the 1st. I kept both orders to 6 x 10 Finpecia pills which costs less than the £18 threshold. However having read the above that says the £18 includes p&p, I might order less in future to make sure the total including p&p is under £18.

years supply of fincar cost me 45 pounds.

vat was 4 and handling fee was 8 pounds.

So for a years worth of fincar ran me £57

not bad!

Yep I guess either order small and often, or 1 biggie per year. e.g.:

5 x 10 Finpecia = £15 + £2.50 p&p = £17.50 for 50 = 35p each or £128 per year.

37 x 10 Finpecia = £72 + £2.50 p&p = £74.50 for 370 + £11.17 VAT + £8 handling = 25p each or £92.50 per year.

So a bigger order would save about 25% of the cost in this case, assuming they do remember to charge the VAT. Even better if it slips through unnoticed.
