If it's supposed to inhibit DHT, dosen't that mean it has anti-androgenic properties?

Ahh..."inhibit DHT", my favorite expression! :)

Strictly speaking, an antiandrogen is an androgen receptor blocker, not a 5a-reductase inhibitor.

Oh...well color me wrong :D

I still think it's useful in the stead of a retinoid however.

Careful, many of us had the same symptoms and found these "little" hairs to actually be the old healthy terminal hair which has fallen out and been replaced with a weaker vellous hair.

has anyone had Propecia suddenly "start" working a

I am 26 and have been losing my hair for the past 4 years, though I only noticed it about 2 years ago. I immediately began taking Propecia and have been on 1MG/day since. Though I had what might been considered a full head of hair when i began, my hair has continued to thin, in general, though most of the loss is concentrated in the traditional temple area. With that said, I have long relied on the occasional "pull test" or a modification whereby I gently rub my scalp in the shower to see if hair comes off, where, and how much. And hair continues to fall out from the temple region and on the very top of my head (site of the traditional bald spot", though not from anywhere else on my head. Am I to assume that Propecia is not working for me? Or is it possible that because I began treatment with what was essentially a full head of hair, that there is some chance that my loss will stabilize at a certain point and hold strong from there? I know the drug has had great success in stabilization, but i am wondering if there is a "stability" point, where it can save those follicles less receptive to DHT, though it might lose the more aggressive ones.

To sum up, do I have hope of saving my hair if I still have fallout after 2 years, or should i just resign myself to the inevitable. Any info appreciated.

thanks

Have you used these also?

thanks... but

nizoral just made my scalp itch and minoxidil stained everythign in sight (pillows, sheets, clothes, etc) to the point where it wasn't worth using. besides, i hear it only works on the crown of the head, not in the front, which is my main concern right now...

as using those things in the past, they didn't seem to help. same rate of hair falling out.

Actually, minoxidil works on the hairline. Nizoral also needs to be in your routine. Try Nizoral every third day. Preceed the Nizoral with TSAL and rinse.

Try leaving the Nizoral on for a say a minute in the beginning and see if that handles the itch. Be sure to use 1% nizoral, as the stronger version is more prone to generate itch.,

Propecia on its own is not a complete solution and your odds will be GREATLY enhanced by adding the other two drugs.

hey, its you're hair (at least for now anyway!).

Is it safe to drink alcohol while on Propecia?

This may be a stupid question, but I heard somewhere this was bad.

Thanks,

Dave

Sorry, read the topic line to understand what my last post was asking.

Also, I've been on Finasteride for about 4 days now and when I do the pull test only 1 hair comes out as opposed to 4. When I hold my hair over the light desk and shake it with my fingers hardly any fallout occurs either. Before I started on this, I would experience extreme amounts of shedding.

I'm not exaggerating one bit either, and I was wondering, is it possible that Finasteride is causing this?

I know it sounds ridiculous, but its true and I don't know what else it could be.

I heard shedding was a good thing on Finasteride, and if your shedding increased it meant it was working. Now I'm worried maybe it isn't, or its working in a way it shouldn't be on me.

Thanks,

Dave.

Four days, you can infer nothing from what has happened to date.

Just relax and keep taking the drug.

you wil be fine.

Anyone have any experiences with these folks - good or bad? I ordered some fincar from them a month ago and have received nothing yet. I was getting some reassuring emails until a few days ago and then one of my emails was returned. I am starting to worry since my CC was charged right after I placed the order, well before it was supposedly shipped.
You may know them better by the name Drugs R Us.
Thanks,

I wish I could tell you.

I can say one thing though. I'm sure glad I ordered through this site; drugs-one had excellent prompt shipping. The package was also very unrevealing.

Hi everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I've been taking 1mg of finasteride for 3 months (and using nizoral 2% twice a week and the other days I've been shampooing with revivogen). Like I said I've been on this routine for 3 months and am still shedding in the temporal region - see many hairs in hand when shampooing. Is this normal - when will this shedding stop? Is there more I can do to add to my routine to stop the shedding? I'm 35 and I still have all my hair in the back (crown) but my frontal hairline continues to thin out - what can I do to stop this - and possibly reverse this?
Thanks for your reply - Greatly appreciate any suggestions.

I would like to know the answer to that too. I have had the same problem and I have been taking propecia since the middle of January. But I only use nizoral once a week because my head really isnt dried out. Damn widows peak haha.

Couple of suggestions. Do you use Minoxidil? If not, start 5% right away.

You may want to switch to 1% Nizoral. I found the 2% quite harsh and I had a bit of shedding with that shampoo.

I would switch to folligen shampoo and conditiioner. Subjectively, I always have less hair in the sink and shower when I use these products.

Lastly, you can add Folligen spray if the above does not work.

Good luck
