Bruce Lee,
Thanks for your suggestion! Can you tell me, in your experience, what should I expect by following your advice regarding my situtaion? What should I realistically expect time wise (eg. 3months, 6 months, one year etc.) by following this treatment. Just wanted to know.
Thanks again for your help!
Tony.

Same

Do you know if the shedding will cease and then will the product kick in? I know shedding is common but when is it too much, does anyone know haha?

I am just not keen on having an itchy scalp and applying a topical solution everyday but if I need to I will. For me I never seemed to be losing alot of hair but then when I started taking the propecia in january I started to notice more hair in the hands in the frontal area, other than that I have a full head of hair. I was wondering if the propecia was actually causing me to recede because of course now I look at myself in every mirror and I feel like I am losing more at a fast rate, but I am sure thats not the case.

Thanks for your help, just wondering if anyone knows of results where someone actually loses their hair on the drug at a faster rate or if its just the regulating by way of shedding.

Well, regarding the overall conditon of your hair and scalp, the switch to 1% Nizoral and the folligen products should work very quickly to make your hair fee and look better.

Re: retaining and regrowth, we always caution folks to take the long view. Stick with the program once you feel good about how it all hangs together.

And keep checking in with us.

Make sense?

hi guys

Hey,i started out on May 6th of this year,so far so good hardly bad reactions.... I do notice one thing my FRONT hairline is much better than my back now,i can now flip my front,i don't know if anyone recalls but May 6th i pretty much shaved my hair off.. since then i've only been cutting the sides and trimming the excess off the top. Before i started rogaine/proscar .. i had hair in the front but it was stringy and thin, even when gelled and blow dried you could still see through it,now it's alot fuller and thicker, after applying rogaine or my azelex i can easily flip my hair in the front and it stays UP w/o Gel or hairspray. I am still waiting for it to grow in even thicker so i am not styling it just yet i would hate it for just to be temporary.. especially sincen i am waiting for a small patch in the back to fill in. Oh another odd thing,i notice people say sheds but before i started any of these treaments i wouldn't terribly shed ONLY if i rubbed my fingers through my hair very hard would i see hair fall out,now i do it and NOT ONE hair falls out,it's very strong... BUT weird thing is 2 weeks ago back of my head look like it was 99.9 % filled in this week it looks like it was when i first started.. it's very weird, could i shed and just not see it?I've never seen hair on my comb or my drain or when i wash my hair.. Sorry for the long post it's been awhile since i've posted,so a quick question,is it common sometimes to see better hair growth in the front than the back to start,it's much thicker and fuller and growing in nicely, and can you shed w/o seeing it? I added Neutrogena T gel instead of the progaine because i was having some dandruff on the nizoral off days.

Here's my regimen
1.25 Proscar
Azelex (azelaic acid 20 %),1 X a day in between minoxidil usage
5% minoxidil 2X a day (I still over use it)
NIzoral 2 % 3x a week
Just cut Progaine and started Neutrogena T Gel for the days i am not using the NIzoral(due to some dandruff)

OOO one more thing

I will take a few photos probably on August 6th the 3 month mark,i was taking photos every day and i reaLIZEd i was living a nightmare i was making a 24 hour day into a 48 hour day.. i was obsessed with my hair,i realized through tough stretches that "longing" over my hair won't make it grow back any quicker..will just add stress,i know most of you here are regulars and have helped myself and many others but if this means anything to anyone please try to go with the flow and not count each day and revolve your life around the hair won't make it any better...Thanks for all the help and i will continue to keep my treatment up!

Peace to ALL,
Rich:)

Hey

gourmetstylewellness.com, everyone! I haven't posted in a while (about 6 months or so). Somehow I wasnt able to post messages at work (it always logged me out when I tried) but now I can. I have been reading posts almost everyday though.

I have been on propecia 0.5 mg for 3.5 months now. I have receding hairline and the middle of the hairline is beginning to thin. I think I am going through a shedding phase. What I dont understand is that I am shedding a lot of healthy thick terminal hairs. I know some people might say these are follicles just starting to be affected by DHT, but I dont think I really buy that. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is this normal?

shedding

I am just taking propecia, started in January. And using nizoral about once a week. My hair loss is restricted to just frontal, temporal widows peak type deal.

I just would like to know if anyone knows when is shedding too much shedding? I feel like I am losing hair faster since January instead of stabilizing the current hairs and thickening.

I was also thinking about adding folligen spray for the frontal area.

I would like to understand the shedding if anyone can help me out that would be great, just not keen on minoxidil.

I know you don't want to hear it but the Big Three is the current gold standard. Add Minoxidil and keep using the folligen. I predict you will not shed more on the minoxidil and you WILL greatly increase your chances of getting your hair back!

Good luck

Hey

gourmetstylewellness.com, I've been on propecia 0.5mg for 3.5 months. I think I've been going through a shed, but is it normal to shed thick healthy terminal hairs? This just seems like I shouldn't be losing so many strong ones.

Joe! That sounds awesome actually, I would love to go back to the days where my hairs fell out and I knew they'd grow back! Cause that's what it sounds like you're having happen. Congrats!

less than 1 MG Propecia ok?

Can someone tell me if I will significantly reduce the effect of finasteride if I cut my Propecia pills in half (1.0 -> 0.5 MG)? I just thought perhaps I could save a little of $$ if I would not be significantly reducing the effect.

thanks in advance.

If it's about the money -- you can get Proscar really cheap and split that and still get 1 or so mg/day for 80 bucks/year or less.

A .5mg dose of Fina has shown in studies to be only slightly less effective than a 1mg does. I would say if you want to save money, split 5mg Proscar tabs into 4ths or 5ths. If you are hung up on Propecia, split those tabs into 1/4s and take 3/4ths (a .75mg dosage). That alone will give you every 4th month free.

generic propecia

does anybody have comments or experience with so-called generic propecia sold online by various companies such as world rx express? this doesn't seem to be an approved generic drug, so i am concerned, but the savings are quite substantial.

Hi i am a newbie. i am just starting to take propecia for about a month. I am just wondering does propecia really help us to retain our hair and slow down our hair loss problem? and is there any other medication beside propecia which can help my hair loss?

Yes, Go to the research section of this website and read the primer. It is great!

Add Minoxidil 5% and Nizoral shampoo (every third day) to your routine. Use for at least a year to see what kind of results you will get. The data is very supportive of these products.

Good luck.

I would not chance this with a drug like propecia. You can buy Proscar and split it and save a ton of money.

Hi,

@basil:
I only heard about Finast from "Dr. Reddys" and that this drug doesn't work.

@speedy:
Probably yes, if the woman gets in touch with a broken pill and resorbs finastrid via skin. The finasterid concentration in the sperm is too small to cause birth defects, at least it is very unlikely

@all:
Anyone know the following study?
http://www.physics.upen.edu/facultyinfo ... index.html

If you take a look at the study, you should get away with less than 1mg/day, the important DHT concentration in the scalp is (nearly) the same
from 0,05mg-5,0mg, the DHT serum concentration is nearly the same from 0,2mg to 5,0,mg...

So why taking 1mg/day!?

bye

JB
