Hi, i was wondering if i suffer from male pattern baldness. Obviously i have some recession(Badly i think) But how bad?I come from a family with larger foreheads than you'd expect. Family has many balding fellas. I think i get my traits from my grandfather. Anyways, what would you recommend first. I've tried a little Rogaine, and started taking Propecia as well fairly recently. Here are some photos. I'm currently thinking about a hair doctor who lives near, who can diagnose. I really don't want my recession to get any worst. The last time i got a haircut, i asked the barber, and he said there was some recession.

I've had my skull cracked open when i was a little younger, the back right side, so i don't know if that would cause my hair on the back right to be curved like it is..

That's pretty aggressive receding for a 20 year old, I'm in the same boat as well, 20 and recession like you. I also have diffuse loss tho lol.

Good luck man, hopefully guys like us will be saved by the future treatments because Propecia doesn't work forever

Yeah luckily I have had no side effects from Finasteride so if it stops working I am going to hop on the max dose 2.5 daily of dutasteride and pray that maintains me.

I had pretty aggressive acne as well, so I'm sure the drugs I had taken didn't really help.

This might help paint a picture of how bad my receding truly is... About 10 yrs old. I genuinely take after my mom(Her dad had ok/decent hair until his late 20's) in all other genetic traits. So i'm just assuming here, but would my diet of these last 10 years have any effect on how my hair has changed. (I eat terribly salty fast food.) Or is it all just purely Genetics if you end up like Rory McCann? Do you think i should see a doctor about this. Obviously i'm too young to be seeing this kind of hairloss. Would really appreciate feedback!

You're not too young to be balding, sh*t it can happen to people who are 16 and they lose it all by 20..
I suggest do some research into the available treatments and decide whether you want to risk it or not

No one can give you an accurate Norwood estimate without knowing what your hairline looked like without hairloss, and without covering your temples.

Would you suggest that i go to a Hair Loss control facility, or rather a regular old physician? I'm assuming male pattern baldness isn't in the practical doctors treatment.

I would wait a few more months and then I would also seriously consider taking Proscar/Propecia

I've started some pills I bought at a local pharmacy called DHT blocker pills. I'm assuming these are a generic propecia. Is this a good combination with Rogaine 5%?

What you're taking is sh*t if it's over the counter. Finasteride and minoxidil is what you need- and fast.

You're going bald, I'd say in the next couple of years you'll think you'd be blessed to have even this hair.

The only Finasteride on here is for dogs(guessing you're talking about a doctor prescription).

I genuinely don't want to go the the hair doctor, but if I have to, it's the only way to keep my hair.

Have you ruled out the obvious?

  • Stress-related or emotional problems.
  • Poor nutrition like inadequate protein or iron in your diet, or poor nourishment in other ways (from fad diets, crash diets, and certain illnesses like eating disorders).
  • Hair treatment chemicals used for dying, tinting, bleaching, straightening, or perming may be used too often or incorrectly, and can cause hair to become damaged and break off.
