All I know is I feel like I've been shedding for about a month and half now (been on finasteride 2 1/2 months) and my hair looks and feels tragic. This is the point where it really needs to start doing it's sh*t, or else I'm going to get seriously depressed. If I could just have a day where I wash my hair and I don't have hair on my hands and loads left in the bath, it might get me out of this pit I feel like I'm in at the moment.

i lost a lot. i had to use couvre a few times..even though my hairloss is concealable,..i used couvre just in case. but expect to shed a lot of f*****g hair. i have no regrets though. my hair has gotten way better. you just have to stick threw it. better to go through the shed and get your hair back eventually than not go on proscar and lose it in a few months only to not get it back

Hey hopewas, what was the first positive thing you noticed? Did new hairs start to grow as you were still losing hair? or did it just stop, and then you waited a while and it regrew?

The last couples of weeks my right temple has really receded, and the back feels terrible now, although I can still just about cover that up with the length of my hair.

And this week my shedding seems to have increased. I'm hoping this is some kind of storm before the calm :)

I also shedded during month 1 on propecia and then again on month 4. After my hair looks like sh*t and now on month 5 the shedding is starting again but it is probably due to the minoxidil I just started. I hope i'm not digging myself a deeper hairloss grave.

my hair looked like sh*t from the shed..it was thin on the back and in the front,..but now my hair grew back in both places ..but thicker. it's worth it in the long run. trust me. finasteride should be the first thing taken to stop hairloss..than minoxidil later on if you need it. i did it the other way around with minoxidil first and all that happened pn minoxidil alone was my hairloss was slowed down a little. i really hate minoxidil..it's inconvenient and it hardly does sh*t but now i'm stuck with it because if i stop..it's bye bye to the hair it "might" have gave me...anyways. after 2 years on minoxidil i started to apply it once a day and it has the same results so it's not too bad. i've been on minoxidil for about a little over 3 years now

Hopewas, How long took the hairs you've lost under propecia ro grow back ? I've been taking Propecia for 9 months (shed a lot), I'm able to see "regrowth" (I mean growth of hairs lost since the beginning of the regimen) at my temples, some black hairs, some others thin (getting thicker after a while), but NOTHING at the front !

did it take more time for you to regrow in some areas ?

thanks

RomanFromFrance: By "front", I assume you're talking about your hairline?

This makes me feel a bit better, as I've just got diffused thinning around the top. My hairline is unaffected.

Two months in now on finasteride, nizoral and minoxidil... and still shedding. Not an incredible amount, (notice 10-20 in the shower, and pick up maybe four or five when I run a wet hand through my hair), but still. I've heard horror stories of people noticing 40-50 hair in the shower. Thank God it's not that bad. Plus, as my hairloss is at a very early stage, as long as I have my hair dry, it's still pretty much undetectable. Then again... I'm only 17. :( Gah.

We'll see how this plays out, but I'm feeling a bit better. A few days ago there was a Propecia survey going through the Hairloss Help forums, and incredibly enough, all but one person said they'd seen positive results in the long run (many had been on finasteride for several years), and that one just said he was "unsure" about how finasteride had affected his condition. Not only that, but quite a few said they'd been through some pretty bad sheds, some lasting months.

Hmm.

in the front nothing regrew just got a little thicker. everywhere else, everything regrew (and thicker) like a month after the shedding stopped..sooner than i expected. anyways. i have to comb my hair forward and flip it in the front to conceal my hairloss. if i comb it back.. it's obvious.. but forward, people have no idea. i think a transplant is the only thing to help me in the front

hey i started shedding on finasteride after about 2 1/2 weeks. that regrew thicker at about 3 months. wish my current long shed would regrow :( hopewas - when did you see shedding and when did you see regrowth? did you just notice regrowth after a haircut of something, or were you able to watch smaller hairs grow in or something??
