spironolactone schtuff!!!

as i undestand it, spironolactone is an entirely different way of approaching your hairloss than minoxidil and finasteride right? So, providing it doesn't kill ones budget, it will probably be beneficial to seeing results, especially on the hairline/temples?

Anyone recommend this? Also, anyone recommend a good place to get spironolactone lotion or whatever besides Dr Lee?

Technically, sure, you would be protecting your follicles even more from DHT. However, this does not mean it will be any more effective in terms of stopping the balding process or promoting regrowth.

If you're using finasteride, you can be pretty sure you've lowered the dht in your system to an amount where hair growth in previously balding regions is possible. However, growth will not occur unless the hair follicles rescucitate themselves back to health after being shrunk by DHT. spironolactone will not help with this. Also, most people believe that even if you lower the scalp's DHT by 98%, balding still may eventually occur. The evidence suggests there are other factors that play a part in the balding process, so inhibiting the formation of more DHT than finasteride already does won't necessarily have more of an effect. This seems to be why Dutasteride isn't significantly more effective than finasteride.

Pulverize tablets with mortar and pestle and levigate powder with propylene glycol to form a smooth paste. Incorporate into Dermabase, Vanicream, or other suitable base. Optimum stability is at a pH ~ 4.5. Ideal concentration is probably 2-5% (w/w) spironolactone.
