as i undestand it, spironolactone is an entirely different way of approaching your hairloss than minoxidil and finasteride right? So, providing it doesn't kill ones budget, it will probably be beneficial to seeing results, especially on the hairline/temples?

Anyone recommend this? Also, anyone recommend a good place to get spironolactone lotion or whatever besides Dr Lee?

I believe spironolactone works like a topical propecia

Spironolactone Solutions

For Use In: Men
Treatment Type: DHT Inhibitor

Main Purpose: Long term hair maintenance, possible regrowth. Part of many regimens.
Overview: The primary function of this treatment is to locally block the androgen receptor site where DHT typically binds to the follicle, causing hair degradation. Because of this, it is a great topical treatment to use in conjunction with Propecia and/or Minoxidil.

yeah doesn't finasteride prevent the conversion of DHT in the scalp, while spironolactone blocks the 5-AR from binding to the follicle? Wouldn't these treatments be synergistic?

Where do I get the spironolactone 5% cream? Is there any other reliable place other than Dr. Lee's website? Is there a way around this $20 consultation fee? Is the $20 fee a one time thing? Where do you guys get your spironolactone from? Can I get prescribed from my normal doctor?

Technically, sure, you would be protecting your follicles even more from DHT. However, this does not mean it will be any more effective in terms of stopping the balding process or promoting regrowth.

If you're using finasteride, you can be pretty sure you've lowered the dht in your system to an amount where hair growth in previously balding regions is possible. However, growth will not occur unless the hair follicles rescucitate themselves back to health after being shrunk by DHT. spironolactone will not help with this. Also, most people believe that even if you lower the scalp's DHT by 98%, balding still may eventually occur. The evidence suggests there are other factors that play a part in the balding process, so inhibiting the formation of more DHT than finasteride already does won't necessarily have more of an effect. This seems to be why Dutasteride isn't significantly more effective than finasteride.

ALDACTONE (SPIRONOLACTONE) 100 mg (50 Tabs) $14.99

Pulverize tablets with mortar and pestle and levigate powder with propylene glycol to form a smooth paste. Incorporate into Dermabase, Vanicream, or other suitable base. Optimum stability is at a pH ~ 4.5. Ideal concentration is probably 2-5% (w/w) spironolactone.

For the consultation with Dr. Lee I just write him an email that says I have male pattern baldness and thats it? Can someone fill me in. I want to order the 5% cream. After I get the 'consultation' then I can order at leisure? Has anyone had sucess with maintenance or regrowth on spironolactone alone?
