I was thinking about going backpacking and the issue that was on my mind the most was not where I should go, or what I should pack, or how much the travel would cost. No.
I was thinking about my hair.
How can I travel and also take finasteride and minoxidill. It would be awkward to apply minoxidill while in a busy shared hostel.
What happens if I lose my drugs while away? It would be hard to get new drugs in time.
The same issue applies to many lifestyles or career choices.
Good luck keeping up a hair routine in the army. In boot camp, which lasts for 3 months, all non essential drugs are banned. You'll also be exposed to disruptions to your hair routine, for example caused by deployment overseas or training exercises. Masculine environments don't take kindly to "metrosexuals" applying creams and lotions to their hair (and this will be the interpretation).
Even things like taking a cruise on the sea, any shared environment, any environment that has uncertainty attached to it. So much stress and problems maintaining a hair routine.
Going backpacking around the world, letting yourself go free and disconnecting from the worries of your old life, impossible. Hair loss follows you around like an anchor, mentally and in logistic terms, you need your drugs.
Hair loss doesn't just make bad memories it prevents new ones from happening.
