I don't think £340M is that much in the pharma industry.

Holding out hope but only time will tell.

Yeah, it would depend. Allergan has a market cap of 109B whereas Replicel has one of 7.1M. Is Thorn a credible company? Do they have other products? Can't look into it much at the moment since I'm at work...

They haven't had a safety trial. I'd be very worried about the risk of growing a teratoma or there being cancerous cell proliferation after the injection. Not sure I'd want this...

She is a hair transplant surgeon, there is a phone number for consultations on their website, someone who is fluent in English should contact them.

Hmmm, always a little weird when surgeons come out with new treatments.

Still unsure whether this treatment is meant to regrow hair or create new hairs in a lab that can be transplanted - considering shes a surgeon I think it would be the latter. I'd prefer to regrow my own but beggars can't be choosers lol.

"Although current techniques are still in their infancy, with only 10% of the new hair follicles cultured remaining alive, we can culture sufficient quantities in the lab to provide a complete cure for male pattern baldness."

Eh, sounds like a better version of a transplant (no scars!). That being said, that would obviously be better than what we have. I may be ignorant, though. Happy to be explained otherwise!

These days, in hair loss industry, stem cells = snake cells and the fact that she is a hair transplant surgeon definitely spoils the excitement for me.

People coming in from nowhere and telling
“We have already done amazing things with animals, such as growing new tendons inrace horses, and have achieved similar success in treating a British quadriplegic whocan now stand and move both arms, which would have been considered a miracle in the past. The potential to extend stem cell treatments even further is unlimited and we look forward to rising to the challenge of curingmany ofmankind’s ills.”

If they done that we need proofs. anybody can find any trial results? or are they just starting to test on humans?

are they doing what lauster wanted to do? growing hair in cultures and then reimplant them to the scalp? this would cost 50-100k bucks i think.

This is scum product. Guys, don’t be naive. Many stem cells treatments are fake and dangerous, and of course, they are done in third world countries where is no regulations for anything. Where are the results from 7-8 clinical trials? Before-after pictures?

Great, it's up to them to prove us wrong and to show the world the cure but everything about this sounds dodgy.

It's pretty funny how the mood goes from positive optimism to scam in the matter of 4 pages lol.

Hopefully the truth is somewhere inbetween.

If Thorn was going to make such a bold claim and say the treatment has 100% effectiveness they should've had data/pictures to back it up.

If the company is going public now I think it's just money grab :(

But I am very positive and hope for the best (y)

I think I agree, but I'll stay positive like you are.

"Let's make this announcement that we have the cure for baldness and it's 100% effective but then say it's in its infancy and provide no pictures or data so we can drive up our stock"

I'd like to think there would be some due diligence by the bank bringing it public. They want to be listed on the London Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq, so they're going to need more than grandiose statements to justify its valuation.

Sorry I didn't mean to sound so pessimistic.

The fact that a surgeon came up with this "cure" and not a research scientist is a little questionable to me.

I believe Thorn is a legitimate company, I just don't like the big press announcement without any facts to back it up - keep in mind they have the same thing plastered on their website.

Replicel/Shiseido have done the same thing to a lesser degree. There was that big article claiming they have the cure and it will be available in 2018 - we haven't seen any legitimate proof that they definitely have the cure no matter how good the science behind their research sounds.

They both might indeed have the cure but without showing hard data and photographic proof I'm not going to take them for their word. It'd be nice to think these large companies are doing us an honorable service by trying to cure this disease which the public doesn't care about (some of the researchers might actually care), but the truth is they care more about money than anything else. Them caring about money is fine, I hope the person who finds the cure is bald and makes BILLIONS of dollars and grows their hair back like Tarzan, but don't send out flammatory press releases to generate hype at the expense of the hair loss community's state of mind. I'm sure enough of us have a hard enough time staying positive as it is.

How naive is it possible to be.... This is 100% pure bull****! We will never see a cure... Maybe we will have some decent treatments in the future, but thats all.

Yes, it's garbage.

First tell "we have 100% success". Second tell "bahamas". Third tell "need to tweak it for female alopecia".
