PS: I'm, indeed, a med student, in case there is some doubt.
Irrelevant im afraid it neither makes you right nor a good one. That being said.. is anyone waking up today heading over to Riken to clock in maybe spare some change in the break room for Tsuji to grab a snickers then heading upstairs putting on your lab coat and sitting 2 feet away from him on the adjacent microscope to work on hair primordiams? Id be so surprised but if not, pretty much all of us know nothing and I feel we shouldnt be talking in absolutes. Everything is just gossip right now and we are all speculating.

Well, most definitely I know very little about hair loss cure science, but I've taken part in research teams on other fields (mainly HIV/AIDS) and have worked on papers myself so I know a little more about it.
I've never said that what Tsuji-sama et al, Cots, Christiano and the rest have been working on is a piece of toilet paper. No, not at all.
I'm just being pragmatic.
The problem is most people in here are prone to false promises and such proneness distorts pragmatism into pessimism.
I want what everybody else wants: an effective solution.
Nevertheless, from what I've learned so far, the solution ain't happening in da near future.
Quindi, pazienza, i miei amici.

Bis bald!

Can you give me an estimate of your personal pipeline you believe is more reasonable?

I can't 'cause my knowledge is very limited.
Judging from the answers the Nihonjin gave us, if successful, the Tsuji-an treatment is gonna be available to the masses after 2025, in my opinion.
I know, disheartening, but still there is hope.
Up until 2025, there is even a likelihood that something else in the current pipeline or something fresh pop up and be proven effective. A small likelihood, but a likelihood.
Dermawounding + minoxidil (follica) and Histogen are the least likely to turn successful, in my book.
Jak3 inhibitors? Dunno know ... I hope they work out at least for AA sufferers.
Brotzu? We can wait and see. I wouldn't bet on it, though.
What else is there in the pipeline?
Not many.
At least, there are more deeds than a decade ago. That's optimistic, :).

Can you quantify near future?
It depends on what constitutes a solution to your personal Haarproblem.
If your problem is minor, maybe something in den nächsten fünf Jahren (?).
If your problem is major, vielleicht nach 2020 (?).
I'm no expert, Bruder.
Sei geduldig doch mal!

Bis bald

New info:

“We are planning clinical research in Fiscal Year 2019 (April 2018 to March 2019) and aiming to put the technology to practical use from 2020.”

Getting pretty specific now with timelines.

I bet they already applied to the ministry for approval.

Good news. Hopefully they'll have an easier time getting approval since Riken is state sponsored.

One would think the longer those new regulations are in place the more streamlined the process should be.

But it was on info before. Is it something like a confirmation of their plans? And were did you get this news?

Wow excellent news!
The only question is if in 2020 they will have the capacity to offer the treatment to all potential patients. Something tells me that the 10000 number is gonna be relevant for 2020.
Nonetheless this is the cure IMHO. This one is worth waiting for.... :)

Niceness!! Did they comment on solving cultivation of epithelial SCs?

Between Riken/Tsuji, Lauster et al, RepliCel / Shiseido, Follica and Histogen there should be an Androgenetic Alopecia cure available by 2022 at the latest.

Add to that Brotzu and JAK inhibitors for AA and we should all invest in barbershops, hair styling industry and such

Jeezus,
That was already known!
Now that Brotzu's turned out to be a flop, let's make some fuss over something else.
How lame!!!

If they could start the trials in that time frame I bet they'll have some really good news to share at the hair loss congress.

So, why don't you wait for the hair loss congress to be held?
