Ugggh, more side effects

So, I gave 1.25mgs of proscar a day and quit after a week because of side effects. After 5 days they subsided so I decided that it would be safe to try taking it every other day. That was on Sunday and, even though I only took one I'm still experiencing full on side effects. I couldn't imagine that a single dose would mess me up more than 5 days of that **** but it did. I still have ED, low emission and my balls and what I think is my prostate hurt occasionally. Could it be that, as I was taking it every day at first, that my body was better prepared to metabolise the pills but is working less hard to deal with the single dose? God, I'm freaking out about this.

Lol, that's for **** sure. During my first encounter with sides I started exercising every day to increase testosterone, maybe that's why I recovered so much faster. God, I hope this works, This is the worst possible time to deal with this crap.

Just got some zinc and I've worked out twice for the day already (will get in another before bed).

My libido is fine, as it was during my first trial, its just that my dick is near useless. Since almost every case of PFS I've heard of involves no libido I'm holding onto that for some solace.

Still have ED despite a solid libido

More emission even though, out of nerves, I cranked out one about 4 times yesterday, there was clearly less on number 4 but still more than when I'm experiencing full sides.

Woke up with a chubby so hopefully that means I'm making progress even if slower than last time. Been taking zinc and doing exercise and have noticed that my testes are hanging lower which is almost certainly because of the Zinc.

Prostate and genitals are still experiencing pain, although it's bearable and not constant. That said, once again, this side wasn't present on my first trial so it's particularly distracting esp since prostate pain isn't something I've heard about on this site.

God, even though I made what I thought was an educated and safe decision I really feel like an idiot.

Also, I also went cold turkey off of weed after 5 years of being high 24/7 along with h quitting finasteride. Since that itself can cause ED I'm hoping my harder time dealing with sides might have something to do with it. Too much too soon.

you're over analyzing man, im not saying you're not experiencing sides, but you may also be psychologically influencing yourself to feel more sides than you actually have. But if you're taking 5 days to recover off 1 dose, then maybe propecia isnt right for you.

Yeah, I'm never going to touch any sort of hair loss med again. Here's the issue though, I didn't take so long last time, what could be going on? Did I shock my body by getting off and back on the stuff? Anyone have any experience with something similar (ideally a success story, lol)?

Also, scratch the point about emission I spoke too soon as I was travelling this week and didn't have any alone time. I'm still at square 1 it seems.

Hmm well your body is probably just still adjusting..Your DHT was lowered obviously when you took the finasteride, was raised when you got off the finasteride, then was lowered again when you took another dose, ..basically all out of whack, not to mention the affect of no THC for the first time in 5 yeaars, and It sounds like this was all within 2 weeks? That's a lot of stress on your body in a short amount of time. You said you woke up with morning chub so obviously you don't have permanent ED or anything. Probably just best to relax and continue working out as you have been and things should return to normal.

Thanks, man. That makes me feel so much better. I also moved to Canada on Thursday so I've been under a tremendous amount of stress- surely that can't help.

What next for you now that pgd2 inhibitors are completely off the table?

My friend, all I want in the world is my health back. I'm taking this as a lesson in the dangers of vanity and am forgoing any sort of hair loss treatment. I look good bald anyway, I should have just played with the cards handed to me, esp when it was a decent one to begin with.

I was merely quoting OP.

Thank you. I was initially afraid that I induced PFS by going back on it but it's clear that my endocrine system is still functioning to a degree.

I also got some creatine to help give my dht a much needed kick.

IT LIVES!! Woke up with a hard on and when it's flaccid its actually responding to mental stimulation rather than saying "dude, I really want to but I just can't".

Still not at 100%, my balls (but no longer prostate) still aches a bit and there's not much in the tank but I've turned a corner and can get back to talking to women- nothing destroys confidence quite like ED.

You're not taking finasteride anymore? Did you paranoia masturbate? Were you reading PFS and propecia help crap whilst trying to take it?

I'm not 100 percent your side effects were caused by the actual chemistry of the drug.

1) no, I'm not taking finasteride any more
2) I would call them test-wanks.
3) no because I wouldn't have taken it a first, far less a second time.

You may not be 100% sure but I am. I've never heard of the placebo effect drying up someone's nuts.

It's a good thing you quit when you did. Sounds like you're one of the few people that get intolerable side effects.

Did you consult your doctor about them?

Didn't get a chance, I moved to Montreal for the year. He mentioned to me that he hasn't had any patients complain about sides though.

Despite my bad experiences I don't think it's the devil but I'd implore anyone wanting to try it to

A) only try it once, if you get bad enough sides that you have to stop then don't try doing what I did and get back on it, even on a smaller dose.

B) 0.5 every other day is perfectly fine.

C) if you have the look to pull off a bald head (not a wreath) then don't bother with finasteride in the first place. I understand that it's nice to have options but it's even nicer being content with yourself.

Help needed severe anxiety 2 months after quitting

Hi all,

I'll try and be as simple as possible here but here's my story. I took propecia with minoxidil from April 2009 aged 24 thru to December 2011, age 27 I quit because I didn't want to be bound to the pill and it caused it little bit of Gyno, as well as a slightly lowered libido but nothing major. I remember I tapered off the drug and thing settled back to normal just fine in the weeks and months after.

Fast forward to June 2014 and I decided to get back on the drug because I really didn't like the hair loss and being bald, I spoke to a consultant at the belgravia centre in London who said there wouldn't be any issue restarting and if I saw sides to simply come off again.

After nearly a year of being back on the drug in May 2015 I started getting really anxious in day to day life, driving a car, going to work, just the normal everyday stuff I was getting anxious about and I found myself not having any energy to go to the gym and play football as I've done nearly all my life. So on July 23rd 2015 I chucked all my pills out and quit cold turkey, expecting things to go back to normal, and they did, for about 2 weeks.

After 2 weeks, I couldn't believe what was happening to me. My anxiety went through the roof. Brain fog, shaking, I had 2 panic attacks at work and had to leave early and take time off on the sick. To add, I just couldn't sleep, insomnia was unbearable one night I didn't sleep and must have been up for a good 48 hours. I went to see my doctor and she ordered blood tests but she had never heard of post finasteride syndrome. I asked if she could test for testosterone. A few days after I got a message through to go back to discuss abnormal blood results. Free T plummeted to 7.6. I couldn't believe what I was going through. The doctor said to wait a month before testing again and if it was still low I need to go on some sort of therapy. The mad thing is in the first few days of the crash I was still able to get hard with my wife but as soon as the anxiety and insomnia kicked in I could hardly get it up, I can still get an erection but it takes a lot of stimulation.

I'm seriously worried that propecia has messed with my brain and caused unbelievable amount of damage. Is this all just because of the low t?

The anxiety is just unbearable I thought I would just go back to normal like I did the last time. Every day I get shakes, tremors, tension pain, knots in the stomach, and find every day tasks like eating tough.
Please tell me this will get better. I need hope

If you're still getting it up thats a good sign esp since you admit that it's largely mental. Research some supplements for post finasteride syndrome (creatine FTW) and get your *** in the gym for some heavy lifting.

If your body couldn't handle it you probably wouldn't have been able to take it for so long in the first place.

Also, avoid booze like the plague. I went clubbing last night and drank, despite the fact that I'm clearly still recovering given that my balls still hurt. Had symptoms today but I'm positive that they'll subside as they're certainly better than before and I feel awesome otherwise. (EDIT: I'm back to normal)

EDIT: actually, instead of a regular gym you should try something like BJJ (started last week to help with sides of my own) and/or Muay Thai. It'll give you something to think about and get good at during your recovery. Stress may not have any obvious effect on DHT but it makes it difficult for you're body to heal itself and IMO nothing helps stress quite like improving oneself.

Please keep us updated and stay off of Propeciahelp. You're gonna get through this, you're not nearly as bad off as some others.
