Who Hasn't Experienced ANY Side Effects While On Finasteride?

I think that a lot of people start taking finasteride in hopes of experiencing no side effects. Logic tells me that reducing DHT HAS to cause a side effect in one form or another, but I could be wrong I guess. The big one being sexual sides - although not the only thing you should worry about obviously, its something that should be treated carefully of course. So has anybody out there been on finasteride for a decent amount of time and experienced a) no sides or b) no sexual sides?

Also, where other then your hair is DHT produced and why is It a necessity within your body? This is more for general knowledge.

I'd be grateful for any responses! Thanks guys!

I have experienced absolutely no sides from finasteride and have been on it for almost a year, but the thing is, I really don't think it's working for me.

I think it's rare NOT to experience sides but usually it's temporary. I had sexual sides that lasted a few days to a couple weeks at most. In fact I made a thread about it at some point because I was really concerned but then everything was normal not long after. It was mainly just libido decrease. I've been on finasteride for almost 3 1/2 years and my sex drive is still high.

Me, nothing. Definitely genuine finasteride as well.

If someone was slipping it in my coffee every day I would never know.

I get finasteride from the Pharmacy, so it's definitely the real stuff. I'm not sure if I'm maintaining to be honest- when I first started finasteride my hair thinned out considerably, and I'm not sure if it's gotten worse or not since the shed (not noticeably worse), but I can definitely say that it doesn't look any better.

Mostly maintained. Peak re-growth at 9 month mark then slow decline since then. Front miniaturized more and a bald spot started to develop but density wise I'm still slightly above baseline.

Check out my thread in success stories for more details.

No side effects, been on it for a year, initially had a super libido boost for about 4-5 days then everything went back to normal.

Thanks for all the replies guys, its good to know that some people are experiencing no negative side effects from the drug. Its easy to become jaded as you often see people who do experience side effects post, but not as often do you see people without them post, which makes sense I guess.

No side effects, been on it for a year, initially had a super libido boost for about 4-5 days then everything went back to normal.

I've been on finasteride for a couple of weeks now, and for the first few days I felt a little weird, no note worthy difference in libido, my erections felt a little off, almost not as strong, I thought about discontinuing, but after the initial few days I'm now experiencing a huge boost in libido as well. I don't know if this is temporary, but I like it! Obviously can't tell if its working on my hair yet, but hoping for the best.

I've been using finasteride daily since the Athens Olympics. SInce then I've been on this site like 4 times. Most of my worrying, paranoia and thoughts about hairloss were a rersult of spending hours reading about hairloss everyday. Oh...and no side effects in 9 years.

I suspect that's why many report sides. I know my doubts about finasteride increase when I'm reading these forums

9 years!? That's awesome, how is your hair now compared to baseline?

Exactly why I barely post here anymore. I've noticed an interesting correlation between the amount of time I spend on (and debating in) hair loss forums and the perception of my own sexual ability. When I am spending a lot of time there, there is absolutely no question I feel my libido lower quite significantly because i'm constantly questioning myself and thinking about it. It gets to the point of where I have a sexual thought, I would immediately think: "I'm on finasteride, I don't have these thoughts often enough" which ends the natural thought process. Honestly, when you try to examine, focus on and basically obsess about something that should be natural and not garner a second thought, it affects you negatively. I've been barely posting for the last few months and have felt fantastic.

If you feel like finasteride affects you negatively, try getting away from forums for a few months. Do whatever you can to take your mind off it. At the very least, even if you are experiencing legitimate side effects, not worrying about and focusing on it will likely help them significantly, possibly to the point that you barely notice them.

when a new person joins the board and says they have been taking finasteride for years, I always take the opportunity to ask them if they've experienced any side effects (like I just asked someone in the Antiandrogens forum who's been on it for 8 years). They usually say sides are negligible or non-existant.

This reaffirms the fact that many people who don't experience sides are unlikely to be posting in forums like this in the first place. So what you read here is skewed

Been on finasteride for 5 years. I'd say I've had no major side effects - or at least nothing I can conclusively blame on the finasteride

~3 weeks here. Same as above. No sides I can really attribute to finasteride. Nipples were irritable one day, and I had a nut ache a different day before that. Subsided by next day and I'm still truckin'.

Just to post an update to my previous post, getting away from these forums has done wonders for me. Honestly, if you frequent forums and are having side effects on finasteride, get away from forums and stop thinking about it. I know people are going to jump down my throat about this, but I am still utterly convinced that the vast majority of people that have sides on finasteride are having them for psychosomatic reasons. Once I noticed that I got 'out of my head' I felt a hundred times better. Sleeping better, less depressed, libido returned fully. Honestly, forums are good for information, but reading about side effects and immersing yourself in the negativity does a huge number on your brain.

Thanks for your response, and I'd agree common sense should dictate continued use of finasteride.

I've been using it for about a month now. No conclusive sides, but I have felt a lack of energy lately. My hairline seems to be filling in bit by bit especially on the left side of my head. My erections are strong. I'll have to update with pictures if it keeps going this way..
