If gyno happens, you only have to stop immediately, and it goes away, right?
Yes according to all the studies I read. If it's med induced just stop the med and it resolves.

well, I think depending on the type of antiandrogen, they all have slightly differnet mechanisms of action other than receptor attachment. cypro is considered a progestin and activates the progesterone receptor too, Im not sure if that is part of its antiandrogenic effects but it could be since several other progestins also have antiandrogen effects, like MPA. Cypro is primarily medically used as an anti androgen but spironolactone on the other hand, the anti androgen effects are considered a side effect and to use it as an antiandrogen is off label use.Aren't those 2 things one of the same? Isn't the production of T dependent on the antagonist? So if the receptors are blocked doesn't that there is less T in the serum?
hmmm, good to know. thanksAll that may be true bridgeburn (I don't know - never went that far in my research) but one other factor to add is that spironolactone has a greater potential than cyproterone to truly activate the androgen receptor. This is why it is not used in prostate cancer, while cyproterone can be it. Some men die faster if they take spironolactone with prostate cancer.

While cyproterone is a common treatment for prostate cancer (in combo with other meds). This is one of its primary uses.
It’s not mentioned because it’s kind of a taboo. Most guys are under the impression that you will turn into a girl while taking it. While there are higher risks of side effects that can seriously effect someone it wouldn’t turn you into a female without adding estrogen. However transsexuals M2F do take oral spironolactone to start their transformation by it androgen blocking abilities. It’s also hard to get because you will need to visit your doctor regularly because it can effect your heart. So try finding a doctor that will willingly put you on something as serious as this when you’re a healthy guy.
But from experience it does work. At least has for me. I’ve been on it for 2 years with no gyno and no sides. I’m healthy male with no problem los having sex or anything. I wrote a post about my whole experience and pics are in the thread of you want to read it and maybe investigate spironolactone for yourself. All the information is in the thread. Hope this helps.

25mg is usually enough to knock down T quite a lot.Do you think taking 100/150mg of spironolactone and 25mg of Cypro will be effective or is that too low of an amount for cypro to build an effective therapeutic concentration?
You're underestimating the power of cypro. Try 1/4 of 50 mg pill, you will be amazed... I felt its effect in a matter of hours: dull testicular pain, much stronger than from finasteride or spironolactone (it was bearable and pain gradually faded, so don't be scared), zero sexual functions, absolute numbness... Maybe I am a very good responder to it, though.Do you think taking 100/150mg of spironolactone and 25mg of Cypro will be effective or is that too low of an amount for cypro to build an effective therapeutic concentration?
I split it with knife, it's not hard at all.Ive had those responses (dull testicular pain and zero libido) with 150mg spironolactone, but I think it may be a placebo as I felt similar feelings when I started finasteride, not as strong tho.
How did you split the Cypro pill? I am only managing to find 50mg and I don't know if I can split that into 4. Its promising that it worked for you with 12.5, since I feel sypro is working well at only 100 maybe I'm sensitive to strong antiandrogens.
Anyone knows how spironolactone works regarding testosterone? Low dose decreases less test or it doesnt matter the dose (the drug builds progressively)? I have the same doubt concerning side effects
2x a day works great for most. spironolactone itself has a short half life but its metabolites have a longer half life and they are part of its clinical effects. As spironolactone has a short half life would taking it as 75mg three times daily 8 hours apart make more sense than 100mg every 12 hours?
Estrogen is breast cancer fuel so its not that easyEstrogen seems like it gives great response. You females are so lucky you can take all this and not worry about gyno. Do you take estrogen orally or apply it?
Do you take any hormone test?I split it with knife, it's not hard at all.
I take Diane 35, 1 pill a day.Estrogen seems like it gives great response. You females are so lucky you can take all this and not worry about gyno. Do you take estrogen orally or apply it?
No, ha-ha.Do you take any hormone test?
