I dealt with my depression for 10 ****ing years on my own, 10 wasted years i will never have back. After 10 years the world collapsed around me like never before. I thought i had it under control for 10 years i didn't.

This is what baldness causes.

I am not saying it was the cause for you. I am just saying you should be more sympathetic of bald people because it causes them to have depression.

And how does wallowing in misery, telling people to give up now, help them with depression? Your fury stems from women half your age and being hot won't give you the time of day. Wow, talk about unrealistic expectations. Then when you have a woman interested, you c*** block yourself, as something must be wrong with her. Self destructive behaviour there!

i see what you mean doctor house and zeroes, thanks for the advice

my looks go down a lot with my issue, but being ugly/weird looking isnt the end of the world. theres plenty of ugly people who still live life, after a while you get sort of used to it, but god damn it does it get me down so ****ing bad sometimes.

luckily all my favorite music artists are also weird looking and "ugly" so its definitely somethign that makes me feel better. thom yorke and billy corgan specifically, corgan i can especially relate to because he lost his hair early and people criticize him for it all the time, and he isnt excessively masculine at all.

Exodus I hope you're planning to go seek professional help, I would be surprised if you're not suffering from depression. Go to your GP for some advice.

I am seeing a psychologist and it's really helping. I've seen a psychiatrist and I personally didn't find them helpful. Maybe if I saw one this time things would be different as I was a lot younger when I saw the psychiatrist.

It is a difficult thing to overcome especially when the source of your depression is constant. I've been depressed over hair loss for over a decade. I've tried therapists, CBT, drugs and nothing helps change my reality. My shrink asked me what I think will help end my depression. I told him one of two things: one- if there was no more social stigma towards baldness or TWO- to not be bald anymore. Neither of which are going to happen anytime soon. I've tried rewritting my negative thought process and brainwash myself into believing that I don't have a problem (they are the ones with the problem) by putting myself in the moral right.... but it's lonely being right when everyone else is just happy being wrong. That's when I came to the conclusion that it is better to belong than to be right.

We don't need help. We need a cure for baldness. It is a physical problem. If you have two legs an an arm amputated, thinking that they are there doesn't make it so.

Venting here does help with depression. By the way, I never heard back from the woman after I replied. She wasn't interested in me. Probably just a free meal or is in debt or something.

happiness isn't a destination, it's the way we travel

i would suggest: 1) don't give into maladaptive behaviours / avoidance and 2) assert yourself

You think a cure for baldness would be enough? Are you sure there are not other things about yourself you might want to fix too?As you age, so many more things are going to "break down". What if they can't be fixed?

exactly if its not baldness it be something else...its annoying when they say they look or others look better with hair i mean maybe they are right maybe some do but probably not by much and its not the end off the world or something to feel depressed about either... i probably would look better with other things done to me also but i couldnt careless i am who i am and im not gonna change cause SOME not all SOME girls turn me down or i get weird looks blah blah (i got all that with hair anyway) its just pointless.

Tell me Doctor, when you were just a kid did you toss and turn at night preoccupied with thoughts of high cholesterol, carpel tunnel syndrome and liver failure? Just because things can and will go wrong later in life doesn't validate not wanting to improve your current situation... because life is about being in the present, isn't it?

So yes, for me right now a cure would be enough. It would be more than enough and to suggest that I somehow wouldn't be satisfied after all of the years of suffering is in itself cynical and defeatist.
