Why the fear of buzzing/shaving?

I was watching a program today where these women in their early to mid twenties were discussing what looks good on men. They started off with some clothing points: one woman said she loved guys who can pull of a plain white t-shirt, they said stylish hats look good, suits (obviously), belt buckles could make a difference, pants shouldn't be baggy or too tight (bootlegged is preferred), etc.

Then they got to hairstyles. They all agreed that dreads is probably the worst one. And the best hairstyle? Surpise, surprise, it's the shaved head!! You might be thinking that they only have black/ethnic guys in mind with the shaved head.... nope. They showed clips of nothing but Caucasians rocking the buzzed/shaved head and they went on saying how sexy it looked.

I read posts of people being reluctant to buzz their heads and I'm always baffled by it. I can understand if you have some weird deformity on your head, but the odds are you probably don't and if you think you do, then it's probably not as bad as you think it is. So if you're thinning and are sick and tired of trying to hide it, then go right ahead and buzz it all off. Chances are, the women will find you much sexier.

I have a really high forehead and can't pull the look off. I think a lot of people feel the same. I will probably only go there when my hair loss is so extensive that it looks stupid grown out

Now this is the topic for me. No deformity, just an oddly shaped head with the bump in the side view. The bump is almost in the middle of my head (usually it's nearer the back of the head). So it's the bump and too narrow/long head. I'm also skinny and small (5'7") and with a youngish face.

I have a large forehead (well above the average forehead size) but I went and buzzed my head anyways. I'd still get people staring at my large forehead, but at the same time, I was still getting more attention from the ladies (not a lot, but more than I used to).

Growhairgrow, you pull it off really well. Not only do I wish I have your head shape, but I wish I have your ears too. Mine are big and stick out too much. But even so, I still think I look better buzzed than with hair. My gf always bugs me to buzz my head whenever my hair gets too long. She was also begging me to buzz it when I decided to grow it out and had it a few inches long.

Well yeah, I like my small ears too. And nose. Dunno what you guys see in my head shape, though. I don't really like it all that much  .

By buzzed im sure they meant the wentworth miller look.

Talking about hairstyles, i highly doubt all women just gleefully declared "I love men who are unable to have hairstyles because they have no hair!"

cmon, youre skewing it. shaved heads look cool on guys. A shaved horshoe on the other hand...get real.

I think the biggest fear is knowing that its probably the last hairstyle your ever gonna have. I can't imagine me growing my hair back out after I shave it bald

i guess i can agree with girls like buzzed better, i grew my hair out about 6 inchs for a year not balding anywhere and prety thick, and when i buzzed it to about half inch i got alot of compliments from good lookin girls. they key with the buzz look is you have to have a good build. i think real skiny guys and shaved heads looks bad and real fat guys with buzzed hair looks bad 2. so find good balance. also to put it over the top get a nice tan and will make your buzz look much better. because pale shaved heads look like ur a skin head natzi sometimes.

Well yeah, I assume they didn't have nw7's in mind and I wasn't implying that they did have that in mind. But there are guys here who are nw2s or diffuse thinners who refuse to buzz their heads b/c they think it'll look ugly. They showed a guy rocking a Freddie Ljungberg style hairline with a buzz in one of their examples. So even guys who are a little more advanced in their hair loss can still pull it off.

And I agree with the person who said to get in shape if you plan on buzzing it. If you have a good physique then a buzzed head will accentuate your slim face and toned body.

Hey, I have a massive bump on my head (and I'm not exaggerating, people tease me all the time about it) but I still went ahead and buzzed it all off. Even with the teasing, I still got attention from the opposite sex. But maybe that's b/c the bump is at the back of my head so you can't notice anything wrong when you look at my face.

Kalbo - my dents(i have two of them) are on either side of the top of my head...it's kind of freaky. sooner or later...probably sooner...I'll buzz my head and find out how these "indents"(probably a better word to describe em) look.
