If I was serious about someone, I'd ask them about their past. If they refused to talk about it, or were super-vague, it would be a red flag for me. I've been in 3 long term relationships in my life. In all of them, they were very frank and open about their own pasts. One or more of them could be a super-skilled pathological liar that fabricated a complete fiction and maintained that fiction throughout the years of the relationship, but I doubt it. They would talk about their pasts unprompted. I've dated a couple of women who were sketchy and vague about their pasts and maybe I've been unfair to them, but it was a red flag for me - especially when I am open about my past. This is after going on a number of dates.

Sure if he is involved long term as you are now saying then perhaps he will have some suspicion. But a year in, if a man is in love and at that point finds out she had a lot more lovers than he initially thought he is probably already in love.

• that got my attention - I said well, because men are the chasers, women the choosers. The shaming is a societal thing - it's not good for society if women said "yes" to every advance - society would be a lot more chaotic. Also, it's just easier for women - it's not an achievement like it is for men
  
• on serious relationships: a woman knows her baby is her baby.
